Any one know when the Siii might get Jelly Bean???

It will probably take forever knowing that Verizon is involved. If you want it before the end of the year, you'll probably have to put it on there yourself. Which is fine I guess, and exactly why I wanted a phone like the S3 which will have a strong community behind it.

The upgraded voice commands sounded promising from the quick read I gave one of the Engadget articles.

Hakuna matata...the Verizon circle of life.

If things run true to form, either Verizon will say (or rumor will have it that Verizon promised) to provide Jelly Bean in the first quarter of 2013. Around January 1, people will start posting messages like, "My phone keeps timing out when I try to check the update status. Does this mean Jelly Bean is about to come through?" Someone in Colorado will SWEAR that they got it OTA overnight, but screenshots will show they're still on the original stock ROM.

In February, someone over at XDA will announce a leaked version and release a custom ROM with it. Everyone will love it and complain that Verizon isn't releasing it because they haven't been able to get all the bloatware to work correctly.

In March, threads will start that say, "Verizon promised this in Q1 and all the other carriers released it back in October! I'm leaving them forever if they don't release it by XXX." This will continue until March 28, when threads will start, "Verizon has 48 hours until it has broken another promise."

On April 1, a lot of jokes will appear about Verizon and Jelly Bean being a joke, then despair will set in that Verizon will never release Jelly Bean for the phone.

In the beginning of May, Jelly Bean will appear OTA. Half of the forum members will complain that it bricked their phones/trashed their SD cards/changed their plans/ruined their battery life and the other half will say they're not downloading it because they've been using a custom ROM newer than Jelly Bean since last October.

Don't forget come July, everyone will start asking when will the sgs4 get the new key lime pie when the phone will still be taking pre orders the day Google installs a big fake piece of key lime pie on their lawn.

Cyanogenmod will announce it has started CM10 tomorrow, they will have a release candidate ready when our phones are delivered in two weeks, and everyone in this thread will be posting on the "why hasn't Verizon shipped my Nexus/GS4/Incredible5G yet" page by the time Verizon gets VZ Nav and City ID to work on the official release.

well the one thing the gs3 for verizon has on its side for updates is that its identical to the at&t and sprint ones... this is the first time vzw hasnt done some stupid branding/redesign on a multi carrier phone outside of the iphone. hopefully this means samsung can push the update to vzw at the same time it pushes it to the other carriers and then its just up to vzws annoyingly long q&a cycle.

Somebody first needs to convince me what features I should care about in Jelly Bean.

It has a couple of really great features
1. Provides endless discussion, crying , anger and whining about when it will come out .

2. Once it does come out the euphoria of having the latest and greatest will last a whole 4 days.

3. More discussion, crying , whining and anger.

Too bad I can't like more than once.

Come next year, my shipmates will laugh when I start ranting about Verizon then have a random face palm moment after remembering this hahaha

Oh, I left out several things:

-- The freak outs when someone posts a grainy screenshot showing that Verizon has announced end-of-life for the SIII. (I'm guessing that will come in April-May)

-- Discussion about whether the SIV is a "true upgrade" and whether it will fix the SIII's problems. (After CES, when Samsung shows a possible device.)

-- Verizon-bashing when we hear that Verizon won't be carrying the SIV

-- Whining about how Samsung's GPS can't lock onto anything unless you're standing on the deck of the International Space Station

-- Righteous indignation when someone comments that he liked XXX on his iPhone better than XXX on the SIII

-- Flame war when some newb asks whether he should buy the SIII or whatever the HTC or Moto flavor of the month is

Awesome, but you left out June 2013 - Gs3 gets JB while all other phones are updating to Key Lime Pie 5.0

In my opinion, nobody should buy a Samsung phone with the expectation that they'll get the next big Android release. They are extremely slow with updates, and they've probably moved most of their focus over to the S4 and a Touchwiz redesign.

The physical button complicates things even further, and I don't think they are going to mess around with trying to get their current release of Touchwiz working with Jelly Bean.

That's been my experience anyway. I know this going into it and set my expectations low on Samsung, and counteract it with my hope that the Developer community will do something great.

In XDA we trust. They've already got two phones running JB and it's only been 12 hours :D

I'm pretty sure that the reason the Verizon S3 release is later than the other US carriers is so that they can release it with JB.

In a related story I have a bridge to sell......

I am purposely not reading about any of the features of Jellybean because I know it will be a long while.

That being said, they better update the GS3 at some point. I'm sure they will, but then again... with Samsung, who knows?
