any other gun nuts here?

Of all places, I didn't expect to find a thread for gun fans here. I'm as active in it as finances allow. I have a Springfield Armory .45 1911, an SA XD-40 subcompact, a Kel-Tec PF9, and a RRA AR-15. I generally prefer to carry the .40 or .45. I'd love to get an XD in .357 Sig. I find that round intriguing, and I'd love to spend some time with it. Before I do that, though, I'll have to get some experience with loading. I'm not going to buy less-common ammo like that at full cost.

If I may add something of value, I've recently started reading this book:

www(dot)firearmslaw(dot)com/author-browse.html#selfdefense_all_50_states_le

Apologies for the lack of clickiness... I'm below 5 posts :-). The book gives a good review of self-defense law all over the country. I'm only part of the way through, but so far it's been very educational.

Anyway, greets to all, and have a safe time.

Gun nut chiming in here! My collection includes a Glock 30 .45, Rossi .38 Special, Smith and Wesson Airweight .38 Special, Walther PPK/S .380, several .22 rifles, Winchester model 1400 12GA, and Mossberg 500A 12GA and an old RG Model 23 .22LR pistol that I NEVER shoot. Looking soon into getting a Kimber or Sig. When I get the moola, trust me...I will!

As a person who is supposed to know all the state gun laws due to my job, I find it hard to keep up on a montly basis. Books that have been published cannot keep up.

State gun laws can change drastically from one month to another. So even though a book like that is good for reading, if you do any traveling with a weapon, make sure to check the state(s) laws you are going to or through.

As for my guns:
SIG 229 .40 (issued so it is not really mine)
SIG 226 .40
SIG 239 .40
Beretta PX4 9mm
Beretta PX4 .40
Stoeger Cougar .40
Ruger Alaksan .454 (for camping in bear country)
Taurus PT111 (lead paper weight, all it is good for)

Also big gun person here. I conceal carry here in Tucson, Az. Right now I have a Taurus .40 sub compact but I am looking at a Glock .357 sub compact for conceal carry.

I have various other guns...but my favorite is my 1968 Winchester 30-30 Buffalo Bill Edition. I can hit anything with those iron sights.

TucsonChuck... amazing we're both in Tucson and love guns. Coincidence? Naaaah

I am a South Dakota gun nut. I have a very large collection. One of my personal favorites is the John M. Browning(god rest his soul) created 1911 GI 45. I will never own enough of them. I also like my .40 glocks and my AR-15

rugbyua9,

Coincidence indeed! Get out to shoot much? I'll be at three points, the 14th for a fun shoot. Love my G27, and the fact I only need a barrel to shoot .357sig. And what do you think now that Az changed it's carry law?

Gun nut from Michigan here. Went to Camp Perry for both the pistol and rifle small arms firing school given by the Army Marksmanship Unit last month during the national pistol and rifle matches. Got to play with Uncle Sams real M16's for a couple days, but it was markmanship training so we werent allowed to fire full auto/burst. ARFCOM member.

Big questions: 9mm, 40 or 45?
Beans or no Beans?

Those targets are 200 yards away. You need to hit it that faint black dot you can barely see in the center of the targets that are above those numbers to get a 9 or 10 score:

Yep, these are real M16's with burst fire selector (three round burst). We did not use this mode of fire because i is extremely inaccurate and everything we did was for accuraccy.

Here is what it looks like "in the pits" under the targets. Half the time you shoot, the other half you are in these pits and the shooters shoot into the target right over your head. You hav to look for the bullet hole hit and pull down the target, mark it and put it back up for each and every shot. I had about 250 bullets shoot about 5 feet above my head.

Some youtube videos I took of dad shooting so you can understand the course of fire:

Here is a nice video in the pits looking at bullet hole "magically" appear on the target a few feet above you:
