^^ The DPR staff doesn't seem to understand how HDR+ works at all as they make no distinction between "Auto" and "On".

Their conclusion however is accurate.

I agree they did not get into the nuances.

They also didn't mention the sensor advantage as the reason the Pixel does it HDR+ so fast, leaving it all up to the 821 processor. Either way, I don't read photographer reviews for their analysis of the tech (thought they should do better), I like to see what they say about image quality. As long as they used it right (and they appear to have), their conclusions are valid.
