any tricks for removing microSD cards that are stuck?

I lost my last card on an airplane. Most of you know that it's prone to happen. Just bought a new card, thought I inserted it the right way, but now the unit doesn't see the microSD card, and I cannot remove it. Short of taking the cover off the tablet, is there any other way to remove these tiny cards? I don't want to damage the casing, or tear off a fingernail trying to get it out.

Use a tooth pick, a needle, mechanical pencil and use the lead? I use those to take out microSD cards that are inside deep in my phone

My personal favorite is tweezers. Idk about a mechanical pencil...wouldn't the lead break off and make it worse?

I've glued a tooth pick to it before on a dinc and pulled it out.

I will have to try a tweezer or needle later tonight. Paper clips are too thick.
