Any way to get calendar to notify on birthdays?

So I subscribe to birthdays special google calendar for my contacts, and GSII's default calendar app also reads them and adds them to the calendar, so thats good. But I usually dont go into my calendar app, and what I miss is that an actual alarm, or notification for those birthdays and anniversaries. Can I get it to notify me for those special days?

Also, does calendar app have the option to add email reminders while creating new appointments on my google calendar?
