Any way to keep the 4 action buttons from turning off

I am talking about the four permanent ones at the bottom. They always loose their illumination while the screen is still on. This is annoying in the dark as I cant see them. Is there a setting for this? Thanks.

The only way to change this setting is by flashing a stock ROM and kernal that supports it... Until the next update comes out, at least. Supposedly this is one of the fixes that will be in that update

By default they're set to go off in 4 seconds. If you download JT's ROMs, you're given the option during installation to set that to 5, 10, 15, and 32 seconds I believe. To me, it was annoying at first, but once you build the muscle memory of where they are, you don't them to stay lit all the time.

Can that ROM let me disable a button, mainly the search button? I hit that thing so many times by mistake that I just want it to no-op.

Don't believe so. But then again, I use that button regularly so it's not one I've looked into disabling. I haven't heard of that being available though.

Yep, it's fixed in the update dubbed DJ05. I demonstrated it in a blog post on the front page. Hopefully they release that thing soon.

Same here, I've read that the update will tie the button backlight to the screen timeout and am really hoping it's an option. The buttons are very bright in the dark and would distract from the screen if they were always on.

They do stay on longer but they don't come on when bringing the phone out of sleep. You have to hit one of the buttons and then they come on for 30 seconds in my case. I wish they would come on when I bring the phone out of sleep.

As for the search button, there is a hack to have this launch the camera. This worked well for me on DI01. I think the developer said it could be mappped for other things. Head over to XDA to find out more.

If you hit the volume up/down it will illuminate the buttons for the 4 secs or whatever it is.
