Anybody considering the Razr Maxx?

After my battery issues with the V-GN, I'd seriously consider a Razr Maxx. Trouble is I'd hate to go back to Gingerbread. It's 2012 for crying out loud... my Droid Incredible from, what, 2009? 2010? has Gingerbread on it (Bugless Beast 2.3.7 - runs great, actually, except for the miniscule battery).

3100 mAh... now we're talking.

I feel badly for the guys that bought the Razr. Here in just a short time is yet another "Razr" (should be called "Razr Fat" with a bigger battery.

Anyone surprised that a new unit like this doesn't have ICS?

Even if and when Motorola finally upgrades to ICS, do you think you'll be able to recognize as ICS, or will they blur the heck out of it?

I'm not at all surprised. It seems that HTC, Samsung, and Motorola run far behind getting the OS updated because their focus isn't the OS, their focus is to crank out as many phones as they can. That does not leave much time for actually providing quality support to their existing product. Support is an after thought at best.

F MOTO, i think its BS how quickly they put out a 1-up phone to the predecessor. First Bionic then 2 months later RAZR, and now 2 months later MAXX. I get that newer phones come out quicker these days, but the way MOTO does it sucks and is gonna piss people off.

My upgrade is available next week... so of course I was looking at the Galaxy Nexus, AND CES!!!

The RAZR MAXX has my attention... now I have to see both side-by-side. I will go with the MAXX unless there is something wrong with it, but I don't think that's going to happen right now.

I love the GNex. I spoke with Verizon today and they said the RAZR would see ICS in January. I have a hard time believing that unless it's next January.

Also I am totally with everyone on the no more Moto. First the Bionic which they don't even sell anymore (it's on the shelves but the rep's I talk to say no one buys them they all are steered to the RAZR), then 6 weeks later the RAZR which was a jump up from the "flagship" Bionic. Now the people who bought all of the RAZR's over the holiday's will be pissed about the RAZR MAXX (same price).

First, you must be talking to a rep... who of course knows nothing... Motorola's consumer experience VP said on day one of CES that the RAZR would get ICS in Q2 of this year: Live from the Engadget CES Stage: an interview with Motorola's Melissa Gardner -- Engadget

I think this is more the fault of Verizon for asking for so many new devices... Motoroloa, and every other manufacturer, is at the mercy of the carriers. VZW asks for a new device and they deliver a new device.

Now the people who bought all of the RAZR's over the holiday's will be pissed about the RAZR MAXX (same price).

If I was mad at every manufacturer for releasing a new device after I bought my last device I'd be pissed at every manufacturer... come on, they all release new devices every month, two or three to get people to buy their latest product, let alone that they are trying to keep up with the other manufacturer that just released something that is better than their last product.

Even Motorola realizes they released TOO many phones last year... and finally said they will be releasing less phones this year.

Plus... we are talking about all the people that bought RAZR's over the holdiay's that did know that CES was still scheduled for January... CES did not change the date, did they??? They had to know some new devices would come out sometime, didn't they???

Finally, "same price"... sure it's at the same price, but the RAZR will be dropping it's price with the new RAZR's in purple, and white... I believe I read the price will dropped by $100... will that piss off people that bought the old ones over the holidays also??? I'm sure it will, but it's just the way most all electronics go... PC's, Smartphone's, Laptop's, hard-drive's, flash drives, etc, etc, etc.

First of all, people need to understand that no phone will come with ICS out of the box until at least March.

Second, pay close attention to all of the colors that are $199, notice they are only 16GB. Doesn't the original have 32GB (16GB internal and 16GB microSD)? I could see them dropping the original to $249.

People in general need to not be pissed about price drops, that's what happens. If you don't know that by now, then there's something wrong with you. I personally would rather pay the extra $50-$100 to have the phone at least a month earlier (for the Razr it would actually be 3 months).

I read that the Razr wouldnt see ICS til the second quarter of this year also. That means around summer time lol,Having had the dx it was promised GB in the summer last year and wasnt til the last day of summer that it received it officially.

General rule dont believe everything a vzw rep tells you

Yeah, and I have always thought that they pushed out that update as buggy as it was simply to shut up all the people who were like, "OMG WHERE IS THE UPDATE THEY SAID IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE OUT THIS SUMMER AND THEY HAVE 74.36938478 HOURS LEFT UNTIL SUMMER IS OVER! I'M GOING TO KILL SOMEONE IF I DON'T GET IT THIS SUMMER!"

I'll be buying the MAXX. Battery life is what's been holding me back from any LTE phone and staying on my DX.

I'm not sure why people think this 'one-ups' the RAZR THIN, it's the same phone but with a bigger battery. Some people want super thin, others want long battery life. If Moto didn't offer the MAXX, then there would be continual es about it's battery life just like with the TBolt.

And in the end, it's just a phone that you won't be using in 2 years from now (6 months for some people).

Because most(99%) would have rather waited and gained the extra mm to have pretty much double the battery life. The razr should have been this. No need to make 2 of pretty much the same phone sans battery.

The problem with making the Maxx the regular is that it would have been too much like the Bionic. The only difference really would have been MotoCast.

I still can't get over the fact that they even came out with this.

Nah, I have a car charger, so better battery life isn't a pull for me to switch phones. The GN is the bee's knees. it looks a lot better than the Razr, in my opinion.

Amen. If I used a phone for 2 years, my husband would die from shock.

Technology whore, what can I say. I think I'll get a year on the GN, minimum. This phone keeps me pretty happy.

Nope. Same crappy screen with a huge battery doesnt cut it for me. The screen res alone is already old tech, not to mention the OS. Also, i highly doubt the razr or razr maxx will get ics within the next millenium, and if they do, itll be a half-assed ics experience.

Regarding the upgrade to ICS, I would imagine it takes Motorola skin developers a bit of time to properly blur the OS's.

Didn't Motorola also state they wouldn't releasing as many phones this year?

This is like me saying I feel bad for gn users since the galaxy s3 is coming out.

Hardware will dominate the gn luckily the gn has an unmolested version of ics. Of course that leaves the argument what's harder....to change the software on the s3 or hardware on the gn?
