Anybody considering the Razr Maxx?

This is like me saying I feel bad for gn users since the galaxy s3 is coming out.

Hardware will dominate the gn luckily the gn has an unmolested version of ics. Of course that leaves the argument what's harder....to change the software on the s3 or hardware on the gn?

I don't think your point is valid, for most people....

apples to oranges since most people have the nexus device for the pure google experience. My wife had the galaxy sii, much bigger screen (and better) than my NS4G, but that to me doesn't mean it was better to me. I wanted the stock GB and ICS....

I still haven't upgraded from my DX... which is kinda why I started reading this post since I have tossing around the idea of getting the Razr Maxx or the GN. I still feel as though I am leaning more toward the GN though.

Had a razr when I got my nexus. I won't be going back. This is the first phone since my Nexus S that I have been completely satisfied with and not looking to upgrade immediately.

After reading what everyone has had to say in this thread I think I will be picking up the GN with my upgrade.

just got my vzw gnex 2 nights ago, came from a incredible 2 running a ics beta and a amoled incredible before that.. gnex is the ****! So fast and fluid with multitasking and all tasks, so many hidden little features. The second i got in my car i noticed the screen sucks in low lighting when below 50% brightness, very noticeable when below 20% brightness: very grainy and has a graduated banding as well as some light lines down the center, and the white webpages look very blue. Also just noticed the glass on my screen is slightly raised more in the bottom right corner if looking at it portrait.. do i have a bad screen? Or do others have same problem? Want to root and go crazy with it but holding out because of screen.. though its still not a deal breaker if this is common.. thanks

Maxx or Nexus???

Ok, after years and years of being on Sprint, I'm jumping ship to Verizon (I want that LTE!!!).
There are basically 2 devices I'm looking at: Droid Maxx and Galaxy Nexus.
I've done some hands on with both and I just can't decide. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions, I use my phone mainly for texting/emailing/taking pictures of the kids. I do some gaming on it as well. And a TON of web browsing.

How is the battery life on the Nexus? How is the camera?

Any input you can give me will be great!
Thanks!

I don't like the way Motorola does business. I realize this is technology and the latest/greatest thing is always around the corner but something rubs me the wrong way about the way the Bionic, then the Razr, then the Razr MAXX, then the Razr Developer's edition were announced/released in close conjunction with each other.

Part of the problem at least for me (I was a long time Motorola customer) especially with the Razr, is to add to the problem with releasing a new phone on average every other month, each of the phones are pretty much the same thing. They also seem to not receive updated OS's with each new phone, so each of them still harbor the bugs of their predecessors.

Re: Maxx or Nexus???

This should help you decide.

You're welcome :D

A couple of problems with the article you linked. The first is the comparison is not between the razr maxx and the 4G LTE version of the Nexus. Which is interesting given the fact that the Maxx was released well after the 4G LTE version of the Nexus was released. The second thing is the article states that the GN has 16gigs of memory when it in fact has 32 gigs of memory in the LTE version.

+1

i've been dipping into maxx forums on different websites out of curiosity and there's a ton of complaints with it. there's seems to be more problems with data drops/freezing/reboots etc. with it than the regular razr. weird, as it's basically the same phone as the razr but with a larger battery lol. another example of why i will not buy another moto phone. when it comes to software, moto could f-up a wet dream.

I think this is normal for a pentile AMOLED screen.

and has a graduated banding as well as some light lines down the center
I think this happens in low brightness with the AMOLED displays.

and the white webpages look very blue.
That is definitely normal for the AMOLED screen.

Also just noticed the glass on my screen is slightly raised more in the bottom right corner if looking at it portrait.
The GNex has a curved screen. Is that what you are noticing?

That isn't motorola, that's verizon. When carriers call the shots, stupid crap like too-rapid iteration occurs.

Well i did jump from the Nexus to the Maxx. And i must say it's twice the phone. Moto did a fantastic job designing this unit. The look and feel trumps the Nexus!!

That's good you like it.

I'm in the window where I can trade my Razr. If I do so, can they transfer all of my settings, apps, etc., to a Maxx? I ws going to buy one, but the saleman sid it wasn't worth the $. However, yo have only so long for a "free" trade. Thanks!

Was considering the Maxx but I just couldn't justify the screen and locked bootloader like some of you mentioned. Ended up getting the Nexus this past Sunday and not regretting having it one single bit. Finally got to switched to the dark side. :D

after my bionic nightmare, i will never purchase another moto phone.
Six months from now someone is going to post "after my galaxy nexus nightmare, i will never purchase another Samsung phone" in some Motorola forum and their post will be liked by many!

I'm not hating. I'm not a Motorola fan myself (my user name comes from my motocross background). I'm just saying. LOL

I just jumped from the GN (wifi and radio issues) to the Razr Maxx. I was one of those who thought they would never buy another Moto phone but the Sammy radios in the GN just wasn't working when I needed it to work and Moto is known for their radios.

I've only had the Maxx since yesterday but these are the things that I like and dislike about it compared to the GN.

I can get our office wifi on the Maxx in areas where the GN will not connect. When neither phone will connect to wifi the Maxx runs circles around the GN using the VZW data. The speaker on the Maxx is far superior to that on the Nexus.

The screen of the Maxx is nice but the GN is clearly superior. Gingerbread is OK but I loved ICS on the Nexus.

Even though the Maxx booloader is locked, I have the phone rooted and bootstrap loaded so that I can get to CWM on it when needed. Oh, and the battery on the Maxx is nothing short of incredible. I was always charging the GN but the massive battery on the Maxx is like the energizer bunny. The size of both phones is just about identical so all that massive battery is still maintained in a decent sized package.

If all things were equal, there would be no question that I would stay with the Nexus, but, when push comes to shove, the Maxx works in areas where the Nexus won't and that's a deal killer for me and the way I use the phone and WHERE I use the phone.

My heart is with the Nexus but my productivity requires the Maxx. I wish this weren't the case, but it is for me and that has decided which device will be my phone.
