I still got love for my 4.3" EVO, and this topic made me think back to when the EVO first came out and a lot of people complained that is was WAY too big......my my my, how the times have changed. I'll soon be a fan of the 4.65 phones when I get one, whether it be the Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy S3. As much as I may like the Note, I can't see myself looking like I have a black brick on the side of my face when I'm talking to someone....don't think I'll be down with getting a phablet. But it is nice to remember the days when people have phones below 4 inches and listen to constant complaints about the OG EVO.

In fact I had a Palm Treo and I used to hold my screen up to the iphone and scoff at the idea of paying so much for such a small screen.
My niece pulled out her evo at lunch and I was wowed. No going back now. Touch is supposed to be here Monday which is bigger.
In a month or so the Note will be on Sprint and I may be getting a Note which is 5.2? Love the big screen for work and play.

No thanks. Chassis size is the key characteristic, not screen size. GNex is 4.65" but the same size frame as a Droid X. If we were talking about a Galaxy Note size device, I'd agree with you.
I think the Galaxy Nexus is the perfect size, any bigger than that would be to large. People need to stop talking about "screen size" because the EVO 3D is almost the same size yet one has a 4.65" screen as opposed to a 4.3" on the Evo.
So again to me in terms of physical size the Nexus is the largest phone I think your average user would be willing to have (the note is too big and is only going to have a select few people that want that). If they can stuff a 4.75 screen in the same case great who wouldn't want more screen?

It doesn't look to me that Galaxy Nexus and Droid X have the same size Samsung Galaxy Nexus vs. Motorola DROID X - GSMArena.com
In any case, I'm pretty convinced that only a minority of people would buy those giants phones really liking them for their size, it's not coincidence that still the iPhone with its "tiny screen" sells easily 1.5x more than the Galaxy S II that is just 4.3" (let's not even mention 4.5" phones and up). I think that 4.3" is reaching the limits of portability even with the most compact phone, so more than that and you're carrying an small tablet, not a phone, that is until the day they find a way of making phones with 99.9% of the front surface covered by the screen.
All of this reminds me of the 1080p trends in monitors, it's a resolution a lot more inconvenient for daily use but the industry forced us to accept it even though only a minority (that use their monitor mostly to watch movies and games) liked it.
The GN is huge. If they could have taken the top and bottom bezel down it would have been a more manageable size. The iPhone doesn't sell more because of its screen size, we all know that.
Not the exact same size, around 2mm wider, which is the crucial parameter for me, but in the same class as the Droid X.
And 8mm taller. That's why it's huge. I know, I know, some ddon't think the height matters, but a lot of us do

Ability to use it comfortably with one hand. Also fitting into a pocket. Read of many breaking the screen just from it getting torqued in a pocket. Now, don't get me wrong, when it comes to Sprint I will most likely be buying it, but it is huge. If the top and bottom bezels got shrunk down so it wasn't as tall, I think it would be the perfect size.
So I'm guessing there's no GS III in your future? 
The GNex, to me, is at the upper margin ergonomically. Maybe a couple of mm wider would be manageable but I'm not even sure of that. A proper size belt holster (no case) could go a long way toward mitigating the portability problem.

Yeah, its the very uppermost level for me. I will not under any circumstances go bigger. I would prefer smaller body with the same size screen

The renderings of the SIII show the display at 4.8" but in a case no bigger than the 4.3" SII. That's the wonder of edge-to-edge.

Yeah, but I'll believe these renderings when I see it. There were similar floating around for the GN too. We see how that ended up.
Droid x2 seems to be great at 4.3 but i could most likley manage a 5in because i deal with so much on it, if you really want to optimize netflix and those great things i would recommend a larger screen even if you dont think it will be worth it! they need to make sure they got powerful enough batteries to power them for more than a few hours lol

It seems like most (Moto Droid HD, Samsung Hercules, HTC Holiday, Samsung Celox etc.) of the recent specification leaks and rumors for upcoming devices include a 4.5" screen. I've used the Droid X and the Thunderbolt and I've found both to be uncomfortably large (insert joke here) with a 4.3" screen. I'm excited about the hardware improvements we are seeing in android handsets, but I would like to see something sized closer to my beloved Droid Incredible. I'm just not at all interested in buying a gigantic phone even if they are thinner than a lot of today's Hummer phones. I guess I'm in the minority. Anybody else like to see a high end phone released in the 3.7" to 4" range?
OK - so it's an old post, but I found it funny to see that the OP was so dead set against a 4.5" device but now owns a Galaxy Nexus (at least according to their profile) which sports a 4.65" screen.....
