Because it comes with an older firmware version out of the box which still ran the original charging screen. I hadn't updated yet when I took that picture. I have the current charging screen now.

No complaints yet. I had been using a Pebble for the last year and had the G Watch for two weeks when it came out so I knew what I was getting myself into. The Moto 360 just takes the smartwatch (and Android Wear) experience up to a whole new level which includes a classy appearance.

Currently, screen not set to always on but with auto brightness. Ambient off. Battery life is fine. Exactly what I was expecting so far. and similar to the G Watch (which had fine battery life for me).
If people tap and play and tinker for hours on it, battery life will be abysmal. Use it as it was designed to be used and battery life will be fine.

The exact moment it went on sale on bestbuy.com, I did an inventory search and found the one store within a few hours radius of me that was reporting it as in stock. It happened to be one about 45 minutes north of my home. Only thing that sucked about it was that I was two hours south of home for work at the time. lol. Best Buy put a restriction on ordering online for in-store pickup but I had a hunch that it would take a few minutes for them to get that block in place after making the listing live. Reason for the hunch is that it has worked to my advantage on multiple occasions for release-date products. So I got the order in immediately with an in-store pickup reserve. I refreshed about five minutes later and in-store pickup had been disabled for the product. They honored it anyways and I got the email 20 minutes later that it was ready for pickup so I went after work on my way home and got it. The sales lady said it was the only one they got and that people were calling and showing up all day trying to get one.

Just picked mine up from the local BB Mobile store at the mall. It was the only one they had in silver/grey. It was dead in the box but is now on the charger. Screen hasn't come on yet so it must have been really dead. Waiting for the baby to light up! I was disappointed yesterday when I missed the online order... can't believe I scored one today!

For the stores in the Minneapolis area that purportedly got any, it seemed like they got only 1-2, and those they pre-sold to employees. The Best Buy store that is closest to their corporate office claimed they didn't get ANY, and won't get any for awhile.
With how low inventory is, you'd think they were purposefully selling so few to raise hype.

Yeah I was going to say the same thing, limited inventory so people get more excited about the rapidly selling out product. I guess as far as Motorola goes, they will call this launch a success while people who can't get their watch are angry and call this a bad launch due to lack of product on store shelves.

What's sad is it wont be a very profitable launch, just like all watches before it. There just isn't THAT much demand to make a lot off this market yet. Thats why I can't help shake my head at the immediate sell outs of these devices.

The best buy website shows for stores in my area with the silver one in stock. After calling them to confirm, they're all sold out. I went to the closest best buy this morning just to check and they said they have 4 in transit and to check back on Tuesday. I'll be calling them daily just to be safe.

In case you don't know. Best Buy is taking pre-orders at their stores. I found out through a source and went to two stores to reserve one at each. Buying for myself and husband. It's $25 to preorder, you can choose your color and if you happen to get it before the preorder comes in from another outlet you get a Gift Card so you can return that or use it towards another purchase at Best Buy. The two stores I went to neither of the sales associates, mangers, or GM of the store new about it. Once the looked up preorders in their system un Mobile, then Accessories, surprise!!! They saw that Best Buy was indeed taking them. Both stores say that they are getting in the mail today from UPS or on their truck Tuesday. One store is only get 3 (one black two gray) the other 4(2 of each color). At least I know I'm getting one.
