Anyone curious how good the Moto Z Droid Edition camera is?

This just in: YMMV. Not all reviewers are finding this one to be the bee's knees.

Who are the other 2

Based on DxOMark's scores, the Moto Z actually is in the group of fourth place finishers.

As of today:

88: HTC 10, Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge
87: Moto Z Force DROID, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Sony Xperia Z5
86: LG G5, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Samsung s6 Edge
85: None
84: Apple iPhone 6S Plus, Google Nexus 6P, Moto Z DROID, Moto G Plus, Moto DROID Turbo 2

I don't see how the HTC ended up on top with the S7E and above the G5. Also, the Nexus 6P as well as the Iphone is way too far down on the list. I'll have to look at the score breakdowns.

The company producing these scores is not an independent third party. Companies pay them for their "camera tweaking software" and consulting services.

Not saying it's complete BS, but it isn't neutral.

Looks legit to me. These guys have been the professional camera standard forever and any phone scoring in the 80s is pretty phenomenal.

I'm not questioning the scores in the 80s. Just not sure I agree with rankings.

If you actually trust their ratings, I would be a touch disappointed that the regular Z didn't get a better score than last year's X but I don't believe their ratings should be seen as that granular.

I trust them in the same way as a benchmark - it's showing the optimal use of the hardware/software and not really reflective of anything that has to do with real world usage.

I was very happy with the Turbo's camera performance, so I'm not sweating these numbers in the least.
