Anyone else considering returning their EVO 3D?

The battery lasts really long to me and charges super fast. I am coming from an epic 4G that took really long to charge. This is by far the best phone I have ever owned.

How long does your take to charge? Everyone I know who has one is taking between 4 hour (on ac) to 8 hours (on usb) - that is fast to you?

On AC last night when I was at 10% left, I shut down the phone and it charged in about 2 hours, maybe even less. It will take longer to charge if you leave the phone on.

Who shuts off their phone to charge it? I could charge my old MS phone in 2 hours while it was syncing e-mail or even if I was talking on it using BT. Do you unplug your landline to charge your home phone faster? Maybe Jamex turns off their phone to charge it as well since they claimed it didn't take 4 hours but with the phone turned on I KNOW it takes 4 hours. Tested on 3 EVO 3Ds. I'm not trying to give you a hard time but shutting off my phone in order to charge it faster doesn't seem like a good option - particularly since i run my business from it.

It takes mine approx. 2.5 hours from almost dead. I leave mine on at the home screen with live wallpaper running using a 15ft USB cable plugged into the stock AC charger.

Mine has been charging for 5.5 hours now and it was at 25% when I plugged it in. It just got to 98% plugged into USB.

That's actually good. I'm seeing about 12 hours with somewhat heavy use. But I turn my phone off to charge and it took 1:47 and 26 seconds from a completely dead battery on AC. Android charges in a fraction of the time when turned off.

Took 2 hrs 45 minutes from 0 to full for me with no use.

im deffiently considering returning my 3D..I had it for about 3 weeks so far...dont like the signal issue..never had this issue with the Evo 4G...hopefully will be fixed with update...I hate the power button, feels real cheap and way to sensative compared to the E4G, hate where the usb, charger port is,thats an issue for me because i cant charge and play music with my mini speaker case i use for work..im also not a fan of the dedicated camera button and toggle switch, i think it looks ugly ..Theres deffiently a few other thing but probably software issues that can be fixed but i m kind of upset because im a huge Evo fanatic fan and thought the phone could've been a little more better built...but It deffiently has very good hardware inside...no doubt bout that..

^^^This.

I actually activated my original Evo 2 days ago mainly due to the weak call signal/slow 3g speeds/ and TERRIBLE GPS performance. I wanted to love this phone and I'm actually eating crow from everyone that I talked it up to. Now I don't know what to do. Should I return it? Should I hope an update fixes some of the issues but if not I'm stuck with the phone AND lost my upgrade?

As of now...im still holding onto the 3d...im gonna try to hold on until we get the big update that hopefully resolves a lot of the issues...if this big update dosent workout then i still have the E4G that works very very nice.

I normally don't consider myself a particularly lucky person but so far I have had no problems. Lol, I hope I don't eat my words! So far this phone has exceeded my expectations. I hope that updates will take care of some of the issues people are having because this is the best phone I've ever had, and I absolutely loved my EVO 4G :)

I'm on my third 3VO, this one seems to work the best but after the first I did consider switching to the white EVO 4G. I figured they might have rushed this to market.

I think you may be right. There were some issues with the 4G at first so I'm hoping that problems will be worked out soon. I know it must be frustrating to get excited about getting a new phone only to have it mess up on you.

You're right. My near 23 day post relase day 3VO works great. I don't plan on applying any of the HTC updates or even Google maps updates in fear that they may be the root of my original issues.

I have ran the Google maps update and the OTA update. Nether of them have given me any problems. I say install em. They are good by me!

Sadly... Im gonna have to part with this bad boy. I switched from TMO where i averaged 3-6mbps data speeds to go to 200kbps average.... I mean really, i cant watch 10 seconds of youtube without it buffering, few dropped calls, and poor voice quality made me decide to go back. I really loved the 3D, the screen res has me spoiled, 3D content stole the show, and more RAM and horsepower than i know what to do with. But if coverage sucks (in my area) .... Well its pointless IMO

I love the big screen on this phone.
I like the speed vs. other Android phones I've tried.
I like the HTC sense.

I hate how fast it goes through the battery.
I hate how long it takes to charge.
I'm frustrated it can't lock onto a signal - never had a problem with my previous HTC Sprint phone. I did have the bad battery life and bad signal problem with the HTC Diamond so I ended up returning the phone. The battery life isn't as bad on the EVO 3D as the Sprint Diamond but it ain't no picnic either.

I've got about 2 more weeks to return it. I may have to get the new Sprint motorola phone and then return that to get the Galaxy SII within 30 days after getting the Motorola - I don't think the Galaxy SII will be available in time otherwise.

From a full charge plugged in overnight on AC adapter 100%
1 - 4G Off
2 - Wifi -disabled
3 - BT on
4 - 30 minutes of phone calls made on BT
5 - about 15 minutes of reading emails and fiddling with apps
6 - No gaming
7 - 3 bars
8- two exchange accounts sync
9 - no pictures
10 -GPS disabled
11 - screen set for about 15%/20% brightness - nearly all the way down.
12 - htc sense sync turned off

Not good - Battery died after 12 hours off the charger. Lost signal in an area I've never lost signal in the past 6 years.

That is impressive... phones like this don't go without a charge every day, if not multiple charges or batteries a day.

Yeah I've been thinking about the looming July 24th return day rapidly approaching. I had hoped the GS2 would have been announced if not out by then...it almost feels like the are specifically NOT releasing it until 30days have passed so most of us stick with our EVO3D. As I said in my other post, I just am bored with it and I think most of it has to do with it seems so much like my EVO 4G. (aside from the 3D). I want a different phone and also hate the battery drain on this phone too. And to those who claim it has great battery life are either hardly using their phones or are comparing it to something that was a piece of crap before they got this phone.

Im sorry you guys are having such luck. Not sure if it was mentioned but background sync'ing of apps (friends stream, tweets, exchance, etc) can be hell on batteries. You may also want to look into the airrave. I know these phones eat batteries like none other when they're trying to find signal and cant. I've also heard some people talking about their phone appearing to go to sleep but not actually sleeping so you may want to check your battery performance monitor to find out.

On a more optimistic note, I couldnt be happier with my battery life (and with the phone in general). I can make it from 0600-2200 on light usage and still be above 75% life (that with maybe 5 mins of surfing or gaming per hour, apx 30-40 mins of talking during that time, apx 35 texts (tx/rx) and some music streaming (maybe 30m).

I keep my backlight on auto brightness, default screen time out, wifi/bt/4g all off. Accounts sync bumped up to maximum (i think its once an hour) and the rest pretty much stock. I really only keep up the default widgets too. You may want to check to see if you dont have a runaway app thats hogging up your juice man. You see a lot of that too...

I guess I got a good one.

I can only share my experiences and I know that doesnt help your situation but if you're just having problems iwth the one you may want ot try another phone of the same type...perhaps you just got a lemon?
