I used to look forward to phone upgrades every year. lately it feels like the changes are smaller and harder to justify. still solid devices, just less exciting. anyone else feel upgrades don’t feel like upgrades anymore?
It can be spotty. My 2023 Razr+ is still like new, though my primary dd has been the OnePlus Open. OTOH, my wife's 2024 Razr+ was a total dog. Within 7 months, pixels started going dead and it rapidly got worse (and she baby's her phones). By month 10, it had a black band across the crease. One month later, the black crease started getting noticeably worse... to the point where the black area of the screen was so widespread that she couldn't answer calls or select anything on the screen except for the extreme top or bottom. The end came when a scheduled alarm went off at 100% volume just before bed time. The only way to shut it up was with a sledge hammer! Good riddance.I haven't been tracking how well the folding screens last or wear over time. I assume they're getting pretty decent to last a few years
I feel the same. I got bored with the yearly update. So now I update every 6 months or less![]()
