Anyone else having hard time doing Screen capture?

I'm actually sort of surprised Google hasn't integrated a voice command into Google search for a screenshot. Especially with Google search recognizing the "OK Google" command from anywhere now.

"OK Google...take a screenshot." Snap!

I know it's power + volume down.

But it's hard to get it to work. It just keeps changing volume instead. Even if I press power before I press volume.. Nothing seems to work.. Unless I just get lucky. So far my success rate is like 5%

Anyone else having same issue here?
No case and I'm having the same issue, though better than 5%.

Getting a screen cap on vanilla android is not natural at all but I am able to take them. I've noticed that you have to hold the power + vol down for at least 3 secs

Just got my Adopted case and it is very difficult to screen capture for me, too. It worked flawlessly without the case though.

Thanks in advance!

I completely agree! The problem for me stems from all the buttons being on the same side of the phone. If they were to change it to volume up & power I could probably be able to do it one-handed. Or at least give us the ability to swipe your palm across the screen. I really miss some of the old features from other Android phones. It seems like they are getting rid of a lot of cool features in order to keep battery life as long as possible.

I noticed that no one has mentioned it, but On Tap will do screenshots.

Hold down the home button to launch, then click the share button. It's a little different... It'll remove the nav and status bars in the shot.

Perhaps you could provide a link? I did a search for 'on tap' in the Google Play Store and could not find an app with that name.

It is not an app. You simply hold the circle button on the bottom and then "On Tap" activates. From there, tap on the share icon and it should screenshot it without the icons on the top and bottom.

It is a solution, but takes more seconds. I also have the screenshot problem when I am trying to take consecutive screenshots. The first one will work, but then I have to wait a good 2 or 3 seconds to be able to capture. And the reason I do that is to capture still images of videos through google photos. I would be surprised if other phones did not experience this because I feel it has to do with processing the image.

BTW, if anyone knows of an easier way to do this, that would be helpful :)

Your other option is just holding down the home button with screen search enabled and tapping share button.

I don't see 'On Tap' when I long-press the circle - it tries to bring up the Google app.

Where do you enable screen search - in the Google app settings?

Are you on 5.1 or lower? They changed the home button long press from launching Google Now to launching On Tap/Screen Search for 6.0.

Well, they must've changed it to something else in 7.x because that sure doesn't happen now.

Edit: in answer to my own question - it's in the Google app, under Settings -> Screen search

I am on 7.1.1. and they don't call it screen search now on 6P. Long press home button and it gives you contextualized info based on the page. You can also screen shot by pressing the share button.
