Last night my phone was working fine. I set it on the nightstand and the next morning it wont turn on or do anything.

Tried different chargers, soft boots, cleaned the port...nothing. Talked to google and they said they are gonna replace it. Phone was working fine otherwise. Kinda depressing, the phone would be a year old next month. My wife had a similar problem with her OG Pixel. I was hoping I wouldn't have this problem with mine.

Knock on wood (because I can't really afford to replace it right now, and I certainly wouldn't waste the money on a Pixel 3/3 XL) my Pixel 2 XL is still going strong.

Got my replacement that only lasted a day before it froze and won't turn back on. Looks like I'm going to be doing QC for Google when they keep sending me these replacements.

Amazing that I have a $100 three year old cheapo device that works fine, but I can't get one working 900 dollar one.

The problem is Google is most likely sending you out refurbished replacements, which is basically somebody else's problem :O And something costing more doesn't always mean it's better ;-)

We have a house full of 5 to 8 year old 50 dollar kindles that get abused regularly and their batteries are fine.....yet folks can't get more than a couple of good years of battery life out of a 1000+ dollar smartphone?

Yeah it was a refurb. I even mentioned that I don't want one because it someone else's problem, but then you get the line that "we strictly test all of our units before shipping blah blah" I figured Id give a shot, Ive had decent luck with refurbs before and I needed a phone so I tried it out.

Im just worried that im going to have to go through a few units before I get one that really works. The software is great but I really wish these things were built better. Both my MIL and Wife had problems with their OG pixels too.

For me it was the opposite in the old days (2007) . I had a phone that I dropped it in water and never did get a refurb that worked out of 5 tries.

I think it is just the luck of the draw sometimes
Good Luck , hopefully the next one wont have any issues.

I went through 4 Pixel 2 replacements. Aside from seeing the pending charges (which remained pending until they came off), they didn't argue, they just kept sending replacements at their cost. At least they replace bad phones, with some manufacturers it's like pulling teeth just to get to someone who's willing to discuss that you have a problem.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, OP! So far, my Pixel 2 is still working well. It'll be a year old in a few weeks.

Keep us posted on your journey with Google replacing your device!

The replacement is being put in the mail today. I don't know why, but it took a few more days for them to send the RMA information this time.
