Anyone else waiting for Apple to reveal the iPhone 8 before buying the Note 8?

Happily left the iphone. Enjoying the N8. The keynote was the same old pat on the back with a phone that did not convince me to return my pre-order. Happily enjoying the Spen, soon the gear 360 and been enjoying gear vr. While imessage and facetime is more convenient for me it will not go back to iphone.

I have moved back and forth between Apple and Samsung for a few years now. I had the 7plus and went for the Note 8 this time based on the rumors of what was coming and have not been disappointed. The Note 8 has been amazing. battery life, the screen and super fast processor, terrific camera make this the device to beat for me. I was underwhelmed at Apples new products except for the camera offerings which is usually what gets me to switch, but figured if I jump again I would wait a year, however I am not interested at $1149 for that tech or for such a limited ability to customize anything. After having the Note 8 now for a week it has won me over. While I do agree that iPhone just work and I had zero problems with mine after a year of use I think that Samsung has closed that gap significantly and the trade off of dealing with a few hiccups from app conflicts is worth it to not be in such a walled environment. If Apple ever changes things to allow a bit of customization I might give them a second look but that would be hard after using this Note 8 as it is really just that good.

I am with Android since Motorola Atrix in 2011. Never impressed with iPhone (particularly iOS). But always amazed with iSheep response since the start of iPhone and only did trading with Apple stocks. This year I thought I will give iPhone a try but note 8 impressed me too much. Now iPhone announcement is disappointing as every year but I still get on my lovely iSheep. 😉

I totally agree with you, Samsung has improved a lot over time. I remember I used to dislike Android because it was complicated and just issues. But they fixed most of their flaws and here I am back to the note 8. What I see on the iPhone X, most of the features are already found on Android. I'm pretty happy with my decision to give the note 8 a try. And can't pass up the note 7 discount.

So what comes after the 2018's iPhone 9 and next years iteration of the X? Or perhaps, the X will be the standard model for next year. Or maybe they won't merge back into 1 line, because $999 will be expensive next year as well.

One would say by Apple launching a premium version, they're trying to match what Samsung is doing with the Note 8.

Why does the X have a 5.8 display like the S8, but only 5.15" is for actual content? Seems silly if correct.

What about the iPhone 8 plus? I don't know if it's much different then the 7 plus.

BTW, did they skip the naming of the S (iPhone 7s series) to keep up with Samsung's numbering and not look outdated?

Samsung skipped the Note6 so why not? :D What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

NOPE. The last iPhone I had was the 3GS. Switched to android devices and never looked back!

That includes all those low and mid tier phones right. Flagship phones wise I think Apple still thrash the rest by a huge margin. (except maybe some China phones where China population itself can propel it to top selling phone status

Since you want to dice and slice the chart, how about we narrow it to iPhone sales, there they own 100% of the market. :)

Had almost every iPhone since the 3G and usually look forward to their keynotes but listening to them say that they always knew wireless was the future immediately brought me back to 2012 when somebody asked Schiller why the iPhone 5 did not have wireless charging. They were totally against it until they could figure out long range wireless charging. Now, it was their idea!

“Having to create another device you have to plug into the wall is actually, for most situations, more complicated."

I decided to give the Note 8 a try. First time in a long time I'm not interested in this year's iPhone. iPhone X just doesn't do anything for me and the 8 plus is nice (currently using a 7 plus) but not worth $950 to me for a 256gb. If not for the Note 7 discount I would likely be sticking with my 7 plus.

I switch back forth every year it seems. When I have an iPhone it seems that I just use my phone but when I am using android I feel like one USING my phone. I feel more productive and am able to do more things with works via the stylus in the note. For the past few years I have watched the Apple keynote and each year it gets more and more mundane. iOS is so.... dry I guess is the best term. It's fast and works but I don't feel that a iPhone is like a portable computer. I can access and manipulate PDF and pics a lot more easily with Android and a note.

Also not to derail the thread but I'm tired of iPhones awful wifi. I have had nothing but issue with wifi on iPhones. The biggest grip is that the wifi turns off when the screen is off. Second is that no matter what I do my old s5 blows away any iPhone on wifi speeds consistently.

Well i waited long enough.... I just Pulled the trigger tonight on a Note 8 in Black.... Was a no brainer after seeing the non sense apple just released... Has to be the worst three iPhones to date and the X with the black oval always displaying over videos and games.... What was Apple thinking! They should have had the camera and sensors seperate from the screen.... Total rubbish! lol
