Anyone else waiting for Apple to reveal the iPhone 8 before buying the Note 8?

Not gonna lie. I have a strong desire to send all of my friends an animoji of myself as a unicorn 🦄 but I can't believe for their 10th anniversary they didn't get rid of the screen full of icons or implement widgets. My list of wants to switch back to an iPhone is really short: let me change the color of my Imessage background and message bubbles, let me have widgets, improve 3rd party keyboards, and implement an AOD or notification light. That's it man. Alas, the animoji is not compelling enough to make me go back and I got a smoking deal on the Note 8 pre-order. 😊

Never underestimate the power of very successful marketing and peer pressure.

This is the planet of zealots, whether religious, corporate, cults and in this case certain brands.

The hardcore iSheep would never get it. They keep buying old technology as new and paying 3 times the price for it. Still on LCD? OMG!!!! Think of the markup on the iPhone 8s. No wonder Apple has so much cash. They just showed a LG V30 look alike and claimed they reinvented the phone. Yikes! (and the X in made by Samsung in parts)

Apple is the most successfully marketed brand in the world. And all that was because of Steve Job's "Think Different" campaign, which really was a code word for "do not think different," do what we tell you. It's just like the movie "They Live" with the subliminal message beneath the real message on billboards.

Apple doesn't have a plant, they don't deal with union factory workers and their pensions and don't make anything. They are a design and marketing company that rely for the most part on the uninformed (with low sense of self public). These do not include people who browse and contribute to technology forums. Their claim of "ease of use" or "simplicity"' suggests their users aren't bright. :) haha

It's like The Emperor's New Clothes Story.

Oh yeah. I had forgotten those. Animoji are cute too. But anyway, I'll still be at AT&T Friday morning for my N8.

After watching the underwhelming announcement, I'm actually happy that I pre-order the note 8. I'm going miss the iPhone because of how much I'm adapted to the ecosystem. But sooner or later, I would need to break it and explore other options. Really liked the note 5, but went to iPhone 6s plus because I wanted the apple watch. Upgraded my iPhone 6s plus for the note 7, but returned of the recall and got myself the iPhone 7 plus. Now I'm back to the note 8. Lol.

I think I would miss iMessage, but I rarely text anyone on there besides family and a couple friends. FB messenger can replace it. So I'm not too concerned about missing iMessage. Lol.

Apple's allure in different parts of the world is fading.

Just look at Samsung's presentation vs Apple.
All their stuff is made by Samsung, LG and Sony Anyway.
Look at how vibrant the Samsung presentation team are, vs just tired old white guys at Apple, pretend to tell the world how phones were like in 2013.

I keep flirting with Android and always end up back with iOS because of all the money I’ve invested in music, movies, etc... but after today’s announcement I’m seriously considering taking the plunge and ordering the Note 8. I tried the Note 7 last year and really liked it before the recall and I’m sorely tempted to cut my losses and start fresh with a Note 8. While I’m sure Apple’s A11 chip will make it the faster device, the N8 is no slouch and honestly that’s the only advantage I see the iPhone having. So torn.

I have always had Samsung too (after starting off with the Motorola Cliq :) ) I was curious about iPhone too... and then had to get an iPhone 7 Plus for work. It's like meh compared to the Samsung phones I have... especially the Note 8.
Personally felt the same. Had a 7plus as a 2nd phone very briefly, them returned it. Meh is how I feel as well.

I think my satirical excerpt of the iPhone speech was a bit over the top, but in terms of features, it was about right. I should have used more of the word "Magical" though. Should be a drinking game where you drink a shot every time anyone says magical during an Apple launch event. Dangerous game.

So what if someone swipes your phone and comes running toward you saying hey is this your phone? Of course they're gonna hold it up and you're going to look at it. It unlocks right? So now all your business is in the street. Is this a possible scenario or is it late and my imagination is running wild after a long day?

Check the sales numbers though.

This is what's hilarious to me.

Fanboys (on both sides) getting into over the marketing message.

That's magical.

I just wasn't that impressed for the iPhone X. The hype wasn't lived up to -- for me at least. The software tweaks are only there to compensate for the missing home button. The rest of it isn't enough to wow me to the iOS world at this moment.

On the x the idea of swiping up to replace the home button will for sure cause thumb problems arthritis later?
