Anyone figured out how to sync contacts to/from iCloud account?

Device: HTC One M8 running 4.4.4.

I'm trying to sync contacts between phone and iMac.

I can create a contact on (web) google contacts and it immediately syncs to my phone; nowhere else.

I can create a contact on my phone but it doesn't sync to google contacts.

I can create a contact on my iMac Contacts app but it doesn't sync anywhere.

Pretty sure I have the settings correct on both the phone and computer.

Smoothsync app is your best bet.

Well, thanks. I had tried other CardDAV solutions that didn't work but SmoothSync does. It also uses the CardDav protocol but the dev must tweak it just right.
