Anyone Getting the "Itch"

itching so bad to leave Samsung after the N8 and recent changes. loved every note from the 3 through the 7. no longer the products I love. definitely moving to iPhone. windows has also become ridiculous so I'll be moving to Apple versions of laptops and tablets. a big screen doesn't cut it where my privacy is concerned. stopped using gmail, etc. used to love maps and hate it now. google has grown up and I don't like the changes that started when I found a google program I didn't authorize running on my windows pc. after I move everything over I'm deleting my entire google profile, etc. privacy is more important to me than anything else.

Ditto, I'm leaving Samsung for the next iPhone. Samsung is a nice phone, but I'm tired of Samsung.

Usually around this time, I start to get that itch to try something new. In the past, this is where I start thinking of my second run with the iPhone. My usual pattern is latest iphone, then Note, I usually consider the new Nexus/Pixel, then go back to the Note, then go back to the iphone, then I come to my senses and return to the Note. This year hasn't been the same. Skipped the iphone offerings this year for the first time ever. No Pixel this year either. Got the Note8 and haven't gotten the itch until recently. Anyone getting the itch?
Getting the itch for a note 9, nothing more, nothing less. Even with the itch, I'll wait for the N9. I won't touch anything until the N9 is released.

I'm considering moving back to Apple myself maybe a iPhone 8 plus, so I keep my wireless charger etc always loved the note series but not really liking the new update, battery life is poor, security updates are sporadic, and my main gripe I hate the curved screen! I can't put a screen protector on it etc it's just a pointless form over function.

Oh and I miss my Apple Watch :(

Well you may want to reconsider the Iphone. Bought an S8 in December. Too many issues not addressed by Samsung/Android. Latest...calls open directly in my car w/o my accepting them and the caller ID shows unknown on all calls, unless being received from another Android. Really??? Not a seamless transition from one platform to the other as touted and not nearly the ease of access and data availablity with Iphone. Am stuck w this for awhile. Customer service has no clue how to correct anything. Samsung--CLUELESS!

I've got the Note 8 and have been with Samsung since the S7 Edge. iPhones became increasingly boring 😴, no innovation since Jobs died. The iPhone X was a dud and essentially introduced features Android phones have had for years (wireless charging, fast charge, etc). I've never experienced any of the problems you mention. You must have got a 🍋.

I'm getting the itch myself, it's this Oreo update and the way it handles notifications now and not keeping the badge count once you open the app. The amount of text messages I forget about during the day because if I respond to one and that's it all notifications are gone plus the badge count so I'm thinking about going back to apple myself. The note 8 is a fantastic phone but the notifications ate now just messed up

I find the Note 8 so good that I have no itch for the Note 9 really , I'll probably get one but only because I ended up with two Note8 so I can sell one to subsidise cost of the 9

If it goes over $1000 I will probably grab an S9 plus possibly if there are deals on it.

Agreed. I love my Note, but if we go to a pricetag over $1000 I'll definitely reconsider and go with the S9 Plus. I really think Samsung will keep the price around $950. All they have to do is look at how Apple's $1000 phone did. It tanked.

Haha! Indeed!

I love the fact that the iPhone X tanked, and the fact that the S9 is tanking, for the fact that this has humbled both Apple and Samsung. They seriously thought they could get away with charging +$950 for phones that were not really that far ahead of anything else.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love using my Note8, but this thing is way too expensive considering it was not a major innovator.

If you are going to charge +$950 for a flagship, it better come with the very best hardware for the next 2years at least.

Remember how expensive phones like the Nokia 9500 Communicator and Sony Ericsson P800 were, yet they brought some true firsts and moved mobile phones to new horizons, those phones were at the cutting edge for at least 2years before they were truly outdated.

These days phones are outdated in less than 6months.

I've been noted since I migrated from the Nokia N900 to the note 1.
Upgraded to the 2 selling the 1 to pay half the price (switched to SIM only as I had some spare cash)

Accidentally turned my 2 into a very small tablet by cocking up a custom ROM upgrate well over a year after the 3 came out and scrambling the EMEI so networkds would not let me connect. Makes a good universal remote.

The Note 3 went well into 3 years of Note 4 release before torrential rain filled the headphone socket with water and would not do sound out of any channel but 3.5 mil jack and I cannot stand wired headphones anymore or I would have stuck with it.

The 5 was out but did not have expandable storage and the 7 had already caought fire by then.
The Note 4 I lucked on at the time by an accidental decimal point error for £40 instead of £400 was a great replacement but nothing groundbreaking. Lots of lovely new toys.

I mucked about with root apps so much however that it was starting to glitch and freeze during media playback and was the perfect excuse to get the 8. Sold the 4 to a friend.

Awesome in a bottle, on a stick, with sparkles.

No itch here at all, aside from pondering when and how the foldable versions will appear. I don't see much in the way of massive innovation is possible in the 9.

I could not even contemplate going to Apple. That's just me though on the last point, not a statement for or against the products in general.

I Love my notes and my 8 will suit me until it dies or something else truly groundbreaking comes along.... With a stylus built in!

Nope. Still loving mine on 7.1.1. going to just ignore that update notification for as long as possible

Exactly... For me, the phone is running so well that I have no itch or interest in another phone.

Now if I were still having issues like the first month's... Freeze on AOD, random reboot, etc., I would be full rashing to get rid of it. But those have been sorted out months ago and really been enjoying the phone.

People use to rag on iPhone when the next year's came out and people would say the changes were not worth the upgrade, so with the Note 9 of its basically everything the 9+ has plus S-Pen and 0.1 inch more screen... then I don't see the desire to upgrade.

Importantly, one upgrade I’d want to see... without at least a 4000 mah battery in the note 9, I probably won't even consider it. The 845 doesn't seem to be that more efficient and the s9 doesn't have any reputation for any better SOT over the Note 8. I could easily hold off until note 10.

I am seriously thinking about leaving the Note 8 for the regular Mate 10. I currently have both in my possession, and each have it's pluses. I love the Mate 10 because I don't need a battery case like I do for the Note 8, and I have the IR blaster back. Not going into much details but the decision is hard because I bought the N8 from swappa for $550 brand new..so I can't return but can sell..I bought the Mate 10 for the same price on Amazon and can return it for the future refund if I choose too.. Decisions Decisions Decisions

Tried pixel XL. It is good but am too much in to App pair, edge panel and automating my tasks with Bixby. Also simple things like pinning a conversation to the top of the messages, switching apps in app pair, adding an app pair short cut to home screen etc are missing. Of course Spen is in its league. I understand Its difficult I can be sold on to any other device other than note series. Could not stand using Pixel more than 2 days. Love the note and Sammy's features.
