Anyone Getting the "Itch"

I think they should skip the note 9. unless they come out with a super mega feature like 3 day battery and ten minutes full charge, or a truly top end camera that makes all others look bad. there is zero reason to have it. in screen fp sensor is not a good reason.
the 9, 9+ and note 8 are excellent devices and the note is easily good for two more years, depending on quality of updates.

Plus, an extra year of r&d might make ar emojis not suck.

Flossy just posted the real review of the S9 plus today. He says the s9 plus is better but when the Note 9 comes out it's game over.
True. Saw it, not a bad review. But he also rated the PiePhone X above the Note 8 due to "lag". What the hell is he talking about, I have yet to see any lag.

As it should be, every note release is game over for the rest.

While Samsung would never skip a year, at least not intentionally...Note 7....I do think we are at a point where the need or desire to upgrade annually has subsided. My Note 8 has shown no signs of slowing down. As long as it's running well, I may actually skip the Note 9. No reason to switch when what I have is working so well. We will see though...

I actually agree with you. If flagship devices were on a two year cycle, we would have better products at launch because they wouldn't be rushed and the consumers would have more of an appreciation for them because we wouldn't jump from one device to another so often. Could you imagine the hype if you had to wait two years for a flagship to be released?

If iPhone skipped a year they would make bank.
I think they should seriously cut back on yearly released for environmental reasons. Scarcity of certain rare metals, lithium ion battery and how they are recycled.

Floss Carter is a mega power user though. Most of us are not like those reviewers. I will say the S7 Edge and even Note 7 was a bit laggy for me. I mean even with the lag I would not trade the Note 7 for anything. I loved it and was royally mad I had to give that thing up. S8 Plus and Note 8 have been mostly lag free for me.

That's why if I buy the s9 Plus and then if they release the Note 8 a month early possibly, I would be mad. Spending all that cash and 4 months later the Note 9 comes out and blows the s9 away. Then I'd want to spend a grand and get the Note!

Don't plan on the Note9 coming out a month early if they are in fact going with the in display fingerprint sensor. I would say late August at the earliest. Basically, they are probably not expecting huge sales for the Note9, which is why they are going ahead with the in display fingerprint sensor. I heard the yield on these are extremely low as well, which makes the Note a good test ground for it as sales aren't typically as high as the S series.
In the end, it's just another phone. You know the drill...there's always something better right around the corner. It's best not to obsess over it and just have fun with whatever happens.

Usually around this time, I start to get that itch to try something new. In the past, this is where I start thinking of my second run with the iPhone. My usual pattern is latest iphone, then Note, I usually consider the new Nexus/Pixel, then go back to the Note, then go back to the iphone, then I come to my senses and return to the Note. This year hasn't been the same. Skipped the iphone offerings this year for the first time ever. No Pixel this year either. Got the Note8 and haven't gotten the itch until recently. Anyone getting the itch?

I'm in the same position. Once I leave the iPhone to go to Android, It probably last a couple months until I go back to the iPhone. But, with the Note 8, I been using it for 6 months straight since it was released. Now, I kinda itch to go back to iPhone just because of iMessage with family & friends is a lot easier. But depending on the level of communication we are having, I might stick with the Note 8 (unless we message heavily). I might reconsider going back to the next iPhone, but it will be based on what iOS 12 is offering.

Ooooh One comparison not yet done on youtube. Note8 iPhoneX bash fight.

Or conkers equivalent.

Given fair rules about sling compsiotion and neutral match observer I'd like to see a few rounds of 8vX smash match. Screen to screen colision. Targeted corner to screen swing. Given the ultimate end you could superglue the power cables in for fair, central distribution

I think the itch will be at its peak in the fall. New iphone, Pixel, and Note. What I think about in those moments of weakness are:

1. Do I use my current device to its fullest? I try to learn my current device first before thinking about moving to a new one.

2. Are the features of the new smartphones something I need or want? If I'm going to use the new smartphone exactly the same way I use my current smartphone, then there is no point in upgrading.

3. Will I be able to tell the difference? If the upgraded version of my device looks almost identical to my current smartphone then I am less likely to want to upgrade.

4. If I'm looking to switch platforms, I think about What that would mean You me and those in the ecosystem with me. Even though my family mostly have iphones, we are just about everything Google. Switching to itunes and the App Store would disrupt some things. It could be done, but I wouldn't be the only one impacted.

5. Accessories? Now I have these accessories for my Note8. What to do with them? Do I want to spend more money just to get the similar accessories for the new smartphone?

These are the things. ponder When I start to feel the itch.

I am with T-Mobile and I have been with Samsung since the S7 Edge. I had the S8 Plus, but almost immediately jumped to the Note 8 when it came out (I'm on T-Mobile's Jump program). I came very close to getting the S9 Plus, but I have decided to wait for the Note 9. I love the S Pen and I just don't think I could do without it now. I also think Samsung is not going to have a huge price increase over the Note 8. But we will see. I expect the Note 9 to be between $950 and $975. Not a huge leap.

If it goes over $1000 I will probably grab an S9 plus possibly if there are deals on it.

Ok, I have been on Android since the Droid X first came out years ago, then moved to the Note series when the Note 2 came out and been with the Note series ever since. Mainly because of the Spen. Had the Note 2,3, 4, 7, and now have the 8. Never been tempted to move to iPhone till now with the rumors of an iPhone x plus (or what ever they call it) at 6.5 inches with it working with the Apple pencil or something like it.
I have the 12.9 iPad pro and love it and could see working the iPhone and iPad pro together on some apps. I have had about 5 Android tablets and could never do the multitasking on them like I can on the iPad pro. I tried, I really tried. The 3 Samsung tablets i tried with spens just frustrated me for what I needed. Love Samsung but if Apple finally brings pencil capabilities to the 6.5 iPhone I might just have to switch.
