Anyone going to ditch Note 5 for the S7?

Re: Anyone going to ditch Note5 for the S7?

I'll be getting the S7 Edge+ or S7+ or whatever their "bigger" version will be. But I will also get the Note 6

I get every single new Samsung flagship as it comes out (as well as any worthy flagships in between from other mfg). As far as Samsung goes I've had the S2, S3, Note 3, Note Edge, S5, Note 4, S6, S6 Edge+, Note 5 (not to mention other devices like the Galaxy Tab 2, Tab S, and Gear S). In between at various points I've also owned almost all the phones in the Nexus line (as well as Nexus tablets), all HTC's Flagships from the MyTouch 3G on, and even a couple LG phones.

So yes, I will be getting some type of S7. But I wouldn't call it "ditching" the Note 5. Which, btw, is the best device ever made so far (by any mfg).

I've spent a lot of money on Android, but let me tell you this Jump On Demand from T-Mo has made my upgrade cycle nearly painless (unless you mind paying a small monthly fee for your phone in perpetuity.. which I don't mind at all). So yeah I'll be getting 3 new phones a year at minimum.

This. Just switched from Verizon to t-mobile and am excited about jump on demand!

What does the S7 have on the Note 5? Not worth leaving the Note 5 for a S7 in my opinion.

No ! I'm enjoying the Note 5. I hope to keep it at least 2 years.

No one knows what the S7 is really going to be yet. How can anyone say they are going to jump on it and buy one. Let alone know if it is going to be better then one of the best smart phones currently out, the Note 5. I don't even own a Note 5, but I am going too. So you all dump yours, so when I buy a used one, I can get a good deal. I always buy a generation back.

Re: Anyone going to ditch Note5 for the S7?

There's absolutely no reason for me to UPGRADE to a S7! Why? To go chasing the latest and greatest? The Note 5 has a ton of memory, fast processor, S Pen, great screen. I plan on keeping this at least TWO YEARS! OR MORE.

If my battery deteriorates, I'll just call VZ and get a refurbished Asurion warranty replacement with a NEW battery overnited to me.

This fascination and obsession of UPGRADING and switching out phone after phone, well.. to put it mildly. .. YMMV.

Re: Anyone going to ditch Note5 for the S7?

I find it unlikely that anyone who likes the Note 5 will want to get a SX phone... the two kind of appeal to different usage sets. I mean, the size difference alone would be a bit of a reach (har)... If you struggle a bit with the size of the Note 5 and don't use the S-Pen much, yeah, the S7 might be worth a go. But if a 5.7" phone works for you, you aren't going to like anything smaller than a 5.5" phone.

Re: Anyone going to ditch Note5 for the S7?

The Note 5 doesn't seem old enough to be ditching that quickly.

Re: Anyone going to ditch Note5 for the S7?

If the S7 will get the micro SD card option, I will be interested in getting one.
I would not ditch the Note 5 but would swap between the two as needed.

Re: Anyone going to ditch Note5 for the S7?

I love my Note 5 and S pen! I am in no rush to get rid of it. Will wait to see Note 6 before even thinking of getting rid of it.

Re: Anyone going to ditch Note5 for the S7?

No way, I need my pen. Note 6 will be in my hands as soon as it's available (yes even before I know specs) because I just LOVE this kind of stuff.

Re: Anyone going to ditch Note5 for the S7?

I'm used to the bigger screen with the note series. The Note5 when used in a slim case feels kind of small to me to grip.

Re: Anyone going to ditch Note5 for the S7?

For the most part Samsung users stick with whichever series they are in. Galaxy S users stay Galaxy S, and Note users stay Note. The S Pen seems to usually be the factor for Note users and size for S users.

Re: Anyone going to ditch Note5 for the S7?

typically I try and wait until the Fall (like to see the Moto X, Nexus, Note and even iPhone) so if you can wait I'd suggest doing so. unless the S7 has a must have feature (force touch maybe) and you don't mind the smaller display and losing the s-pen, them maybe, but I can't imagine it being a significant upgrade. also, I'm not interested in upgrading phones every 6-12 months. I'll keep my 6p for at least 24-36 months and the same is true for whatever I replace my S4 with.

Staying with my Note 5 until the Note 6 is released. It's always tempting, but I won't make that mistake again.

Still, I am curious about the unveiling of the S7.

Depending on how significant the updrade is and the Note 6 release date I might temporarily ditch again like going from previous Note to S6 then Note 5.

Re: Anyone going to ditch Note5 for the S7?

No way, my Note 5 runs great an the S7 is going to be a incremental upgrade at best, as they just changed the overall design last year.
Plus theirs no way the S7 is going to have a 5.7 inch screen. 5.5 - 5.7 inch screens are my comfort zone nowadays.

My wife has an S6 as well and if they do what they should and focus on battery life for the S6, both by refining touchwiz software and increasing the battery size, I might consider upgrading her phone, she complains a lot about the battery.
But I get great battery life on my Note 5 4 - 5 hours SOT, and I almost never have to charge it during the day.

Around the time the Note 6 and Nexus 2016 devices come out will be the next time I think about upgrading my device.
Yearly upgrades are all I want these days, and to be honest I could probably easily get by quite a bit longer than that with the Note 5.
We'll see what wins out next year, my desire for new toys or my desire to be financially responsible.

It wasn't all that long ago that I went 18 months on a nexus 5
