any chance you have time to walk a noob through this??

i have a verizon s3 and in some serious need of help

If you are not rooted - there's plenty of information around on how to do so. Be sure to understand the risks involved in any editing of your phone's files.

If you are rooted:
Pick your favorite root file explorer. Go to /System, make a copy of the build.prop file and save it in the same folder as build.bak. This way you have a backup.
Open the build.prop file in a text editor and change the lines mentioned above

BUT:
This didn't work for me. Tried as described, tried clearing play store data, and then tried clearing the cache. No dice. I still get the Country/Carrier blocking message :'(

What part of the process are you at? Stock, rooted, rooted with custom recovery? If the latter, the first step is to make a nandroid backup as messing with the build.prop can leave you up the creek with a phone that wont't boot. To do this turn the device off and boot into recovery by holding vol up + home + power. Should see Rebooting Recovery in blue letters at the top. Use the volume keys to navigate to "backup and restore", hit the power button to select and then select "backup". When that's done, select "Go Back" and then "reboot system now".

Next step would be to install some sort of file explorer/text editor. If your new, I suggest biting the bullet and getting Root Explorer. It's $3.99 but will make life A LOT easier and can be useful down the road. Install and open the app and then hit Allow when it asks for root access. Scroll down to and open the system folder. Near the top should be an option to Mount R/W. Click that and long press on build.prop, scroll down to Open in Text Editor. Change the entry for ro.product.model from 'SCH-I535' to 'Galaxy Nexus', ro.product.name from 'd2vzw' to 'yakju' and ro.product.device from 'd2vzw' to 'maguro'. Hit the menu button and choose Save and Exit. Best part is it automatically creates a backup as build.prop.bak. Then restart your device. Install the wallet apk from the link above and you should be good.

Hey can someone who's rooted give me the 3 original lines, unchanged? I screwed up and wrote over my backup (didn't realize editing would automatically make a backup, which was named the same as my backup. Fail and a half.) :-[

I know the model is SCH-I535 but I don't know the rest.
Thanks A LOT in advance

EDIT: Oh duh I just noticed that PJnc's post had them all in there. AWESOME. Just to verify: product.name and product.device are both d2vzw?

Currently have the old Wallet working on my Verizon S3 but I edited the build prop to htc-jewel on it. I have heard the Verizon GNex actually 'supports' Wallet as you can push it to the phone via the play store on a computer and it works so this seems like it would work. Have you actually tried this or are you just relaying the information?

Uninstalled the market update, deleted the hacked apk and the version in this definitely works with the steps I provided above. Do note that you can't revert your build.prop back to the original with the new version and will probably need to wait until another hacked version is provided. Below is the note about unsupported devices

Below is a note from the guy that made the thread at xda linked above so it may be worth waiting or installing the hacked version if you need Google Wallet for the time being.

hold on guys I will update the op with the new google wallet workaround (and credit of course)

until the patched version gets updated, if you update wallet in the market, will will need to keep the galaxy nexus build.prop (it does break a few things, specifically s voice)

in regards to the patched version, Paul is on vacation til next week...*sigh* maybe i will do it
