Anyone holding on to their original Pixels?

I haven't seen any threads about this so I figured that I would ask.

With the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XLs out, along with a good number of reviews, is anyone choosing to hold on to their original Pixels? If so, why?

I don't have an OG Pixel XL, but I'm thinking of getting one, especially with all of the screen issues with the 2XL

I would recommend it, especially with what it can go for now. I find myself missing this phone when I use other ones.

I would consider holding off if you use Bluetooth though, hearing mixed things there.

Haven't even had my Pixel XL a year yet. Magnificent phone that's working like a charm with Oreo. No reason to upgrade. So yes, definitely keeping it.

I have a 2 XL arriving in a few days. But the OG XL really is just fine for me. Haven't decided yet to keep the 2 or not.

I like Android 8.0 and I like my Google Pixel and I suspect this time next year I'll still be using my Pixel and possibly Android 9.0.

Definitely keeping mine. Software is more important to me than hardware and this phone can't be beat. Theming with Andromeda is such a treat to use without root and it really gave the look something extra especially since I wasn't a huge fan of the white out everywhere

I had pre-ordered but kept flipping on whether I want a pixel2 XL or note 8. I cancelled my order Monday. I was involved in the note 7 fiasco and I just can't do it again. My OG Pixel works great so I will hold on to it for awhile longer. We'll see if anything excites me or if there is a good deal down the road.

As in, having to keep sending phones back. Phone PTSD. While I would love the freebies, I don't feel great about pre-ordering anymore. It's not fun when you're sending back a perfectly good phone, that you absolutely love, back repeatedly.

My XL is not broke, and runs like it did on day 1 (over a year ago).

I can count on one hand the number of times I have turned it off (usually when I am not paying attention and trying to quickly turn the volume up or down and hold the wrong button) but I am sure a Sammy Troll will say that this is a bug and that I should dump it.

This is quite simply, the best cell/smartphone I have ever used.

I'm glad to hear that most of you are content with your Pixels! With the way how this forum went quiet, one would think most here have went to the Pixel 2 (XL).

Uh what? That's a new one. Haven't heard one person mention that the phone was "unstable."


Definitely keeping my OG XL....as my back up phone. XL2 will be my daily driver.

I usually upgrade my phone at least once a year and was all ready to order the XL2. After all these reported issues I decide to hold off until Google can somehow fix it for the second batch. If not, I'll probably consider the HTC U11 Plus or Nokia 9 (if they would sell it in the US). The one thing that I dislike from my 2016 Pixel is the outdated bezels. Other than that, the phone is working near flawlessly. The display is still good with some burn-ins. The performance is still fast and consistently smooth. The camera is still excellent. I'll continue to get fast updates for at least another year. Those are my top four criteria and I don't care for gimmicks.

Keeping my original XL. Unlike many I usually keep a phone until it won't hold a charge anymore.
