Anyone jumping to Galaxy S II next week?

Skype also works on the SGS2. I sure do miss the atrix and the led notifications. Oh well.

My point was that one main reason to go from the Atrix to the SGS2 was Skype, not anymore.

I am the OP of the thread and have had my SGSII for 1 week. Here are some initial thoughts and impressions of how the Atrix and SGSII...

I got the Atrix after the gingerbread update to replace a captivate. I bought it outright and it came loaded with 2.3.4. I still had my upgrade so I picked up the SGSII on launch day. I will go a few more weeks before deciding on whether the SGSII is "upgrade worthy". I am keeping my Atrix regardless. (I do not really know why I like it so much) I have not rooted since my captivate so the custom ROM's etc do not affect my usage. Would probably not use the HMDI etc since I have enough devices to play on my TV without using my phone.

Some quick impressions on advantages over the other:

Atrix-

GPS is faster and dead on accurate
Screen resolution, took a while to get used to it, but I like it
Battery life! 30+% longer for my usage than SGSII. I carry both phones in case I cannot recharge my SGSII.
Better Bluetooth with My Audi Q5 than SGSII. Not sure why, but I have dropped several more calls with the SGSII than my Atrix.
Build quality, just feel more solid
Updates. I understand the Atrix has been updated 4 time since launch

SGSII-

Touchwiz is tons better than motoblur in terms of integration and widgets. I use launcher pro but have been able to go a day on touch wiz which I have not done on blur. I hate that you have to have a blur account and sign back into it every time I switch my SIM from one to the other or when you just use on wifi without SIM card.
Camera. For all the reason shown in this thread. Pictures and Video.
Samsung stock extras- Such as settings on notification toolbar.

I get a 2500+ on quadrant for the Atrix and 3500+ on the SGSII but I have yet to see any practical differences when using the phones.

If I had to pick right now I would take the SGSII back and wait to see what is coming after the new year. I will try another two weeks before making up my mind.

Not sure that lte is in my future even though I live in a good market for it. Unless they get the battery life under control. I have a friend that has a thunderbolt and I cannot understand why anyone would have a phone with such poor battery life.

I also have heard there will be no unlimited data plans for lte. If you have it now, you will have to give it up to go to lte.

My sister just got the ATT galaxy s2 and I have played around with it for a few hours over the past 3 days... here are my initial impressions...

The phone is huge compared to the atrix. Too big for me, although the build quality feels solid.
Web browsing is very responsive and zippy... seems ever so slightly quicker than the atrix. Oh the screen.... I don't know why people hate on pentile screens so hard. The amoled screen puts out bright colors but the atrix's screen just looks so much crisper to me. Amoled is overrated in my books. My sister is reporting horrendous battery life as well. All in all I like the phone... but after seperating myself with the GS2 i found returning to my ollllllld atrix to be rather a pleasant experience. Makes me really proud of the atrix and how its stacks up against one of the most hyped, new phones on the market. Yes the S2 is fast. But so is the atrix. I didn't find the S2 to be any quicker in practical, everyday life situations.

Used the Atrix since release day and switched to the SG II on it's release day.

I use Launcher Pro and Beautiful Widgets, Google Lattitude and the same apps on each.

The things I miss about the Atrix:
-Led Notifications
-Fingerprint Reader (I'm required to lock my phone)

Things I like about the SG II
-Bluetooth works with my E46 and doesn't randomly drop other devices
-Battery life is longer. 18hrs w/ 1:30 of voice calls and still 31%. Atrix I would get 10 hrs and be around 15%
-Better Camera
-More sensitive touch screen

I do not notice any difference in typing (besides sensitivity) with the 4.3" vs 4" screen the bigger size isn't any harder for me.

I am throwing a curve into the mix. I am going to try to pick up an atrix 2 on Sunday if best buy has them. I have until November 1 to decide on keeping the sgsII with my upgrade.

Any thoughts about the atrix 2? If you could exchange the atrix 2 for the atrix would you?

I want the galaxy s 2 but.....I am not sure if its worth wasting my upgrade on it being that its really good but I want something more powerful,more processor power and something other than gingerbread.I might just wait until something comes along and knocks my socks off or the whole comunity's...lol
