anyone mad about the razrmaxx?

Pretty humorous when you think about it. If Moto (or any phone manufacturer) waits a long time between new releases, the carriers and the consumers get upset because they're not pushing the envelope (RIM anyone?), if they unveil new releases frequently, those consumers who no longer have their "state of the art, leading edge" toy get upset.

Nature of the business dictates it will always be this way. I look at it as having two choices: the first is to try and stay current buying new phones when my contract period dictates and knowing that within 4 weeks, my phone is no longer considered the latest technology. The second is to wait longer and buy a new phone 8-10 weeks or longer after being released when the price has gone down and with no concern with acquiring the latest technology. It's always fleeting.

One other thing, I understand there are a large number of phone fanatics who must have the latest and buy the latest technology at the highest market entry price. That's great as well, but most of us choose not to go through phones that fast.
Yes, there is always going to be a new latest and greatest phone right around the corner. But, what other phone manufacturer is releasing the exact same phone only with a slightly larger battery within weeks?

Understand your frustration with Moto. A family member has had the same frustration with HTC and the Incredible. After two phones going on three, experience indicates it is a piece of junk. It's up to the carrier & manufacturer to make amends if the defects are in the design and are being experienced by many customers.

I've owned three Motorola phones going on four, and I've had nothing but good experiences with them. Glad I didn't go with the Bionic.

Except for Sense, I really liked my Incredible. Until the Razr came out, there wasn't a phone out there that made me want to switch. It was well built, solid, great reception and never dropped connection.

That being said, due to HTC's lack of timely bug fixes and OS updates, I'll most likely stay away from them going forward.

I'll be sticking with Moto from here on out. There just isn't another phone manufacturer, except Apple, that can match them in build quality and signal strength, as well as timely OS updates and bug fixes. The just leaked and soon-to-be released 2.3.6 update made me very happy.

Am I mad... if I was mad, I'd have to mad that Motorola created a new device... isn't that there job???

In my case I have a Thunderbolt and can upgrade my device as early as this Tuesday... so of course I was watching all the CES announcements... even if I had an upgrade available in December i would have waited for CES to conclude... and if Motorola had not announced the new RAZR MAXX I would be at a VZW store on Tuesday buying a Galaxy Nexus. The RAZR as-is is a good device, but the RAZR with the 3300mAh battery is enough to beat out the Galaxy Nexus in my eyes.

Don't really need the Maxx. I go all day with some med. to heavy use and i'm only down to 40% at the end of the day. Thing is almost 2mm thicker than the Razr and it dont sound like a lot until you think that the Razr is only 7.1mm and the maxx is 8.9mm So lets just round and say the Razr is 7mm and maxx is 9mm. How about 300mah off the battery and a high deff screen motorola? Or are we rocking it apple style now. The new Maxx is to the Maxx! its got bigger batter....that's about it. At least the iphone 4s got more ram, faster cpu, better camera and siri. Motorola could of at least went with a 720p display or a unlocked boot loader for that matter.

Sticking with the slim Razr. That's why i bought it its paper thin. Battery last all day and then some for me. Dont need to fix something if its not broke and i like haveing the fat razr maxx's anorexic sister.

personally, i see the razmaxx as the phone moto could have released in the first place-and you know they already had the razrmaxx available for release when the razr hit the market. they developed two, then marketed the "lesser" of the two first, then are now marketing the "upgraded version".

that makes for really bad public relations, and pisses off it's customers. moto must not like repeat business....

My battery is fine, no problems. Would I have liked to have the bigger battery,.......YES, but that was the only upgrade they made so its not a better phone so I'm all OK. I paid full pop so it was no big deal on the price drop.......it wouldn't have helped me.:)

It seems to piss off more GN and non-Razr owners in this forum. From the posts I have read about 10% or less of the Razr owners around here don't really care too much since it increases the overall thickness about 30%.

from what i've noticed, most razr owners would prefer a little extra thickness for a much longer battery life....

and why would GN owners be mad about it?

Not from what I'm reading.

As for GN owners, ask them. There are a couple in the Maxx threads on this forum telling Razr owners how pissed they should be.

It doesn't piss this Thunderbolt own off at all. I'm looking forward to owning a RAZR MAXX!!!

RAZR - nice.
GN - Better with ICS, but missing an SD card and wish it came with a bigger battery.
MAXX - Not ICS for now, but it will come... non-removable battery, but large enough to work for me.

I know something better will always be released in the future, but it's time for me to upgrade... and the MAXX is the best device I see from VZW right now.

Oh really? That's an interesting perspective. I guess for you, someone stating their opinion about a device if it isn't a glowing, or positive one is "mad".

Unfortunately, when ICS does come to the Razr, it will more than likely be unrecognizable do to Motorola's insistence of using Blur.

So what... I do know how to Root, and I'm sure they have a Root process for the RAZR by now... then I'm sure there will be a CM9 version for the RAZR at some point in the future if I really want to have a true ICS experience.

i mean, you just bought the razr, and now there's one with a huge battery coming out on the 26th....
We can only imagine how AT&T GSII and GSII Skyrocket owners feel lol. Getting screwed over 3 times if you bought an original GSII from AT&T.

i am a GN owner ;)

i was just curious about how razr owners felt after my personal bionic nightmare

I could care less.

And I already knew that from your posts. I'm just a little confused as to why you two are here complaining about the Maxx when it in no way affects you.

please reference the post where i was complaining about the razrmaxx.

Getting the feeling that some GN owners are still uncertain and are looking for a reason to feel better about their choice of phone. Sending the Razr back the other day was difficult, since I had no obvious complaints and felt the phone was the best I've used to date. Getting longer battery life was a no brainer, however, given that I was in the grace period and typically hang onto my phones for 3 years.

It's a good question, why are GN owners even interested in this Razr stuff?????

I had great battery life with my rent a razr. It is a great phone. I can't see why anyone would feel poorly about their decision.
