Just wondering are they like amazon and won't charge you until the item is shipped or do they charge you right away?

I ordered mine from best buy the first day it was available and they have not charged me yet. Hope that helps.

I just checked my best buy credit account and my current balance is 0 but my available balance is showing the cost of the transformer was taken out. So I'm guessing they don't charge you but they put a hold on the money if you use a best buy credit card.

Yes, this. I think it matters if you buy with credit or debit. I didn't buy a TF but bought a couple of black friday specials for in store pickup and they said they wouldn't charge my card until I picked it up. However, it showed up on my debit card account immediately, even though I didn't pick it up for several days.

They will charge your card immediately whether its shipped to your house or you pick it up. You purchased the item, its up to you when you want to pick it up.

I have PayPal Debit Credit Card that is linked to my PayPal account. I get email confirmations when my card has been used and most stores charge you immediately. There are a few major retailers that will not charge you until the item was shipped but will put a temporary charge on your credit card to make sure that it is legit credit card number and active.

Sorry, I mispoke. The email I received said I wouldn't be charged until they confirmed it was in stock at the store. However, this is still not correct, because my debit card was still charged even after the item was determined to be out of stock at a particular store. They actually had to cancel the order and I had to order again from a different store (it was a hectic Saturday), and I (even today) still have two charges on my debit account. It is some sort of a placeholder, a temporary charge, as you say. But, in the case of debit cards, that temporary charge acts the same as a real charge, as it takes away from your usable balance.

Correct, a placeholder on a debit card acts as a real charge because its taking money out of your account. With a credit card, you technically don't have funds as its "imaginary" if you want to call it that...until you pay for the bill of course. That's the drawback of purchasing with a debit card. After a couple business days, the original charge should be refunded. If not, contact Best Buy or your bank.

That is the beauty of buying from BB, they will always charge you in advance. I got mine from BB as well.
