Anyone putting stock in Dec 15th?

Just called my local Verizon store and asked the guy a bunch of questions (what's the interest been like, whats the best thing I can do to guarantee I get one, inventory etc)

He was like let me go check how many we actually have for launch. Comes back like a few minutes later and says they have 30 - he took down my name and number and said If i'm there when they open i'll have my name on one

went to a best buy mobile earlier today inquiring about the gnex...

he was a younger guy and said that he was expecting to be able to sell them this thursday, but had received an email saying it was def NOT happening on 12/15 and he had no other date. i have no idea what this means but im getting extremely frustrated. i really wanna stick it to verizon some way or anything after all this bs.

i realize that this is just another rumor and not from a verizon insider or anything.

I visited four Verizon stores today, three corporate and one non-corporate. Two stores gave me the "its coming out soon" account without any hint of acknowledgment in response to my suggestion of 12/15.

The third stop, a non-corporate store (Verizon log, one employee) confirmed Dec. 15; said they received an email this morning and she offered to show it to me. I read it; it had a two-sentence line that stated that the phone would launch on Dec. 15 and that a "bunch" of phones would be available. The employee identified the person who sent the email as the head of her regional (non-corporate) division/company. (He was not a Verizon manager, and I don't know the name of the entity that owed this store -- which again, has Verizon stuff (only) and appears from the outside to be like any other Verizon store).

At the fourth (corporate) store, I stated that I was prepared to buy on launch date but needed to hold the phone, or if not, its case, to get a sense of its size, as that was my only reservation. She brought me a demo phone, not activated, in a thin silicon case and let me hold it. It's a tad bit wider than my dream size. (Looks like I'm going to have to get used to it). I did not press her about the date after the email visit, but my suggestion of Dec. 15 was received with a wide smile, as was my stated intention of showing up on Thursday when the store opened. (I know, that doesn't mean much).

called 5 stores in Central PA...all have no information on the release.

The official release date IS this Thursday, December 15th. I got a text from a premium authorized Verizon reseller here in NJ earlier today that said the following:



So there you have it, kids. Go tent out at your local VZW store starting tomorrow night. Or, just have one reserved for you like I did.

It's odd how most of the non corp stores are saying the 15th while many of the corp stores say they have no idea.

I am hoping that this phone is out and in stock when I get off work Thursday! I will definitely be heading to the store when I get off work to see one and hopefully get one.

Perhaps corporate workers are afraid of losing their jobs whereas non corp are separate entities and cannot be fired by verizon?

reseller 1: before the weekend

reseller 2: My store has 8 right now, and all the stores are set for Thursday. I have four people coming in between 9 and 11, so I can hold one for you around 11:30 if you want! All of the corporate stores will have 15 on Thursday, and the resellers will have 7-8. Hope this answers your question.


Definitely not going corporate! Gonna go visit reseller 2 at 11:30!

Who knows. This whole launch has been atypical, so they could release it without an announcement until the day of.

For what it's worth
I was one of the lucky 3 who got a Gnex from BB on sunday 12-11
I went into a verizon corporate store fallowing bestbuy to get a case for my Gnex and the reps were all suprised i had one. bla bla bla.. i asked a rep when they would be selling them and he said "looks like the 15 for us" and he said he didnt know why it was delayed.

Today i went to a corporate VZW store to get a extended battery for my Gnex and i asked a different employee when they would be selling the nexus and he said "the 15th" and also said they had no idea why there was a delay, he said they just got a email saying not to sell it until the 15th.

That's probably because retailers have to order stock and stay in touch with regional sales managers on when to expect promo materials and stock. My bro-law is a retailer and he told me yesterday he got an email from his regional manager that the 15th is the anticipated launch date.

Make me wonder if some stores are just tight lips and won't say anything till tomorrow or early Thursday so they don't disappoint people and some are just loose lips and hey come on in the 15th.
So who knows but I'm going Thursday morning more like calling first lol.

Just called local corporate store and was told there is a 'tentative' date set for the 15th. First time any Verizon rep has even acknowledged the phone to me, so I am starting to get my hopes up..... :/

I just called Verizon in Sacramento. They said the release date will be Friday the 16th.

The name of the phone will be Samsung Galaxy Prime. The change of name is the holdup.

Perhaps they decided to release it on the 15th to celebrate LTE's one year birthday. New markets for LTE are supposed to be out that day too.

Considering the Nexus actually comes out on the 15th...
