Anyone returning Rezound For Nexus?

Thought I would drop in and say I'm a new Rezound owner. I took back the GN today for a swap. Guy was are you sure? Yea man positive what good is it have a smart phone and can't stay connected to internet. Right now I have 4g where as my GN didn't even have 3g and the dBm is 20 less on my Rezound than the GN was in same location.
I'm very happy and so far am loving this phone.

I'd like to echo this comment. I got my Nexus on launch day and swapped it out for a Rezound last night.

I was able to get LTE last night in a rural part of the county near where I live. On my Nexus, I had to drive at least another 10 miles closer to town to get the same signal/speeds.

The speaker volume/quality issue was also a big factor in me switching. I still hate Sense and am missing ICS bigtime, but IMHO, the Nexus had great software on a subpar piece of hardware.

I'm considering it, but the leaked ICS sense is giving me pause. It looks like they didn't adopt ANY aspects of ICS to sense. Its extremely disappointing.

That's why we need S-Off for Christmas so that we hopefully gain CM9 support :)

It certainly looks like they chose lactose free ice cream in the Sense sandwich. It's early, though, tweaking will be done, let us pray.

I'm not planning on it, it'll get rooted by January probably and that is the only reason why I'd switch the Nexus. Nexus doesn't have an SD slot, doesn't have have USB mounted storage, and Verizon took out the NFC. The Rezound has a better screen, better processor and and sd slot and usb mounted storage.

Better processor? How do you figure that? Maybe, theoretically speaking, on paper but realistically, we have no clue how it plays out in reality. Both processors are native @1.5ghz, the TI 4460 is just underclocked to 1.2ghz. It's arguably a superior chip to the S3, even in it's current state in the GN. It's just underwhelmingvat the moment cuz they underclocked it and paired it w/ that dated GPU. If they OC'd the S3 to 1.8ghz on the E4GT and it performed in a stable manner. Not only can the 4460 be pushed to 1.5ghz, without a problem. It's likely to be pushed beyond 1.8ghz and remain stabler than the S3. I'd swap chipsets in a heartbeat if I could.

They certainly had a reason to underclock it. And it is probably the same reason the Droid 1 was underclocked.

I ran my Droid 1 at 1ghz but I know of other Droid 1 users that could not keep it that high and stable.

The thing I have noticed about the Rezound is that it's GPS is just awesome. It has the "fastest" GPS of any Android phone I have used so far. Bring up google maps and bam, location is locked right away. On my Droid and my sister's fascinate it took at least 30 seconds most of the time.

The size is fine with me. I don't think it's thick at all and haven't really noticed it compared to my Droid X.

Yeah, people complaining about the size crack me up.

Based on the reviews I was really bracing myself...but the Rezound is actually thinner and lighter than my Droid 1 heh heh. So for me, it is still a lighter phone. And I like the rubberized back a lot more than smooth plastic.

I think phone people have become kinda spoiled. That being said, I love the Razr myself. I think it looks the coolest of the three and (appearances aside) it probably really is the most durable. But low res screen + no removable battery + Motorola Nazi anti-root policies left a bad taste in my mouth,

I ruled out the GN when I was deciding between the GN, Razr, and the Rezound, and I have not looked back. I love my Rezound. I did have to return the first one~the camera kept turning itself on and trying to focus and take pictures. This one has been perfect~great 3G/4G reception, great call quality, no dropped calls, lightening fast web browsing, and the hook that clinched the deal-the big beautiful screen for watching HBO Go and Netflix. I have no regrets, especially since I am hearing rumblings from GN owners about poor reception, dropped calls, static, and random reboots. Nope, sticking with my Rezound!

Argh. I just don't know. Went and played with a rezound and the speeds are double what I get on my nexus. I don't know if I could readjust to sense again though, especially after stock ics. I really wish HTC would spill the beans already on what the new skin looks like!

I traded my gn for a rezound. While I had them both ( my gn and girlfriends rezound ). I did 3 consecutive speed tests on both at the same time. The nexus clocked about 9mbps while the rezound was getting 16 on 4g. Better still I did 3 more side by side in cdma. Gn ran about .5 mbps. The rezound averaged 1.5 mbps. I weighed all the pros and cons and drove strait to Verizon to trade my gn for a rezound. Didn't want to wait for a fix or risk damaging the gn and have to keep it. I hope the best for the gn guys but I had to settle for "bird in the hand" instead of hoping software fixes the issue.

After seeing the screenshots of that custom ICS rom on the Sensation. I'm not sure if I wanna see what HTC is doing w/ Sense and ICS. Unless, they do something revolutionary, ilike ditching Sense altogether, it's unlikely that the 3.5 skin will be much different in 4.0, even w/ ICS in tow.

I heard today that vzw has it loaded with bloatware and no google wallet.

There is no bloatware on the Galaxy Nexus. It has MyVerizon and Backup Assistant and that's it. Far less than any phone I've ever seen.

What it does have is lousy battery life and horrendous voice quality.

  • App incompatibility issues
  • Worse camera and i mean WORSE. If i wanted to go back to my droid 2, i'd buy one on craigslist for $10.You know the first nexus had a 5mp camera as well as the first droid? I know i know. "MP don't count". Well, the pictures it produces have come out consistently ty according to reviews.
  • No removable memory
  • Less pocketable form factor
  • Samsung build quality
  • Stock and not sense. Sense really does bring alot of functionality. I couldn't give up my flip clock, friendstream and 80 other widgets it includes as well as the kick ass lockscreen
  • Oversaturated screen. I'm in the minority on this, but i don't like how caortoony amoled makes everything look
  • NFC in it's present stage is just as much a gimmick as people say "beats" is to the rezound. There's nowhere in my city i can even use it. Would i even care to? I have to bring my wallet everywhere i go anyway. I don't need to fiddle with my phone at checkout when taking out my debit card is quicker. Give it time to mature

I'm shocking myself here. I was so dead set on getting a nexus just a month ago that this post coming from someone else would piss me off. I would have literally quoted, nitpicked and challenged each and every complaint and torn it apart with some ridiculous justification. After having the rezound? I don't know why i ever cared about the nexus. After the disappointment of the thunderbolt, htc left such a bitter taste in my mouth i wanted to jump to another brand as soon as i could. The rezound changed all of it.

I'll keep my better camera, better build quality, no lag sense ui with functionality i'd have to get with a ton of different apps that still won't be the same and enjoy my ice cream sandwich soon when most of the app incompatibility issues have been ironed out.

Preachin' to the choir, my friend. It's been awhile, since I read an opinion piece that was a mirror image of my own thoughts. Ya done, a good job w/ this.one.

Nobody knows. That custom ROM is just 3.5 with some lame changes. (but nothing worthwhile) What HTC will do will probably be more compelling, but I would prefer to know before I decide whether to return the nexus to get it instead.

Some people are clueless. Seriously, those who can't shouldn't blame the chipset for their ills w/ their phones.

And this is just exactly my thoughts too. I am so paranoid to have perfect device (well, at least for the moment available on VZW) that after having Rezound for a week I kept going to VZ store and comparing with other two...I guess I will stop now

I feel the same way. I keep flipping between the Rezound and GN forums trying to see which way the wind is blowing. I've had my Rezound since 15 Nov so I still have some time to decide. Except for head phone feedback while the soft keys are lit up the Rezound is pretty much what I want in a phone. All I see are issue after issue on the GN forums. If they're all fixed in the next two weeks I'll have a hard call to make.
