Anyone thinkin about getting the iPhone 6 ????

Apple is doing a spec bump this year as well, will that just be for marketing? We can go back and forth all day, but we all know Apple is increasing specs, and more than likely the camera will be improved somehow.

Yes, it will be marketing. There is no reason for more than 6 megapixels on a smartphone camera. It is just hype and marketing. Camera makers used to do that and now handset makers are doing it too.

I am interested in Iphone 6 because. Since iPhone 5 did not prove itself as a breakthrough device, it is highly expected that the next iPhone 6 will come with exceptional features to compensate for iPhone 5 lackings. iPhone to come in three different sizes to satisfy every category of display size conscious users. *sigh* So you are on of those people. As time goes on spec bumps are nothing but positive, and we get less return on investment once every OS goes 64 bit, but for now, specs do increase performance.

Just saying that everyone that picks up the iPhone 6 will contribute to it's continued sales dominance in the high-end smartphone market in the U.S, that's all.
This is a thread about the 6, correct?

According to one article, the megapixles need to quadruple in order to have an impact on image quality. So for the 5s the megapixels should go up to 32 to have an impact. A spec bump to 12 or 16 does nothing. It is for advertising.

According to one article, the megapixles need to quadruple in order to have an impact on image quality. So for the 5s the megapixels should go up to 32 to have an impact. A spec bump to 12 or 16 does nothing. It is for advertising.

I already addressed that. It is pointless. It does nothing that is technically necessary. There are other ways to improve camera performance sans adding more pixels on the small sensor:

1. Enlarge the sensor and enlarge the 8 megapixels on it. This will give the phone better nighttime performance.
2. Improve the software doing the processing of image.

There is NO need whatsoever for a spec bump. The ONLY reason is advertising. Apple can do that, but it will only perpetuate the myth that more pixels means a better image. That is simply not the case.

Did you read the article that I posted? Did you read the section where the author says that the number of megapixels need to be quadrupled to have an impact on image quality? Did you search "megapixel myth" on google and read the multitude of articles saying what I said?

I had android phones for several years but I've had a 5s for about a year now. I will move up to the bigger screen when I'm due for an upgrade. I'm looking forward to iOS8 when we can start using 3rd party keyboards.

I'm in the minority but I like my Nexus 7 better than my iPads. The size is just right for reading books on.

Exactly, it will be improved "somehow", just probably not in resolution. No need. It would be better to work on sensor size, aperture, color reproduction, etc.
