I'm curious what the trade in would be, taking advantage of the ex note 7 owner deal.

I'm scheming ways to get a note 8.

Based on Swappa prices, no you won't. Probably closer to $500-550 depending on variant and condition.

You can try Swappa, ebay, Craigslist, or our marketplace here. Keep in mind that Swappa and eBay have fees, PayPal has fees and shipping with insurance will cost a bit. Unless you can find someone local who will buy it.

I was able to get an iPhone SE from target for $150 for the trade in. Going to sell my 6S hopefully for $350.
