Confession time: I don't hate MotoBlur. I feel so alone. :p

So I'm actually extremely excited for the new Blur, I think it looks really cool; but I'm not lucky enough to have a Droid 2/X. Anyone here care to offer their opinion on the new Blur? Since it's going to be on the Bionic, it'd be nice to know what to expect.

I'm also not a hater of the original Moto Blur. The DX was my first Android phone and I actually liked everything about it for the several months I used before going to Liberty --- now I love it!

I'm tempted to upgrade X --- but need to read some more about it to see what real advantages it has over my custom rom'd Liberty - which made my DX quite amazing.

I was skeptical at first, I hated everything about ninja blur. Lucky for the most part delete a few widgets and use a different launcher app and ninja blur is tolerable. GingerBlur is soooo much better! The new color scheme and added functionality is awesome! I'm ready for my Bionic now, hell i'll even take a locked bootloader if the new blur is on it.

The new blur is nice I can't deny I didn't like ninja blur at all this is much better from the color scheme to the backed in functionality. But I still don't Like the widgets but the ability to change their colors makes it a bit easier to deal with. And in all honesty if moto came up with a bootloader solution like se I would be in line day one to pick up a contract free bionic because the d2 flies on gb

Funny story. I wanted to try the new blur so I was going to trade my Fascinate for a Droid 2 Global and found someone getting rid of their Thunderbolt. So now I am trading my Fascinate and some cash for a Thunderbolt....Still not able to play with the new blur, guess that will have to wait until I get the Bionic :)

So with the roms rolling around the inter webs for the gb versions of the x and d2 what do you all think the chance of the bionic having GB on it are for launch? The new roadmap says May but notspecific.

I like what I saw in the video for new blur. Looks like a huge upgrade.

Assuming the leaked roadmap is real, anyone considering getting the droid x2 or the galaxy s2 instead of the bionic?

I doubt the X2 is lte. I think it is 3g alternative to the bionic. But I think either that or the galaxy look good. But I would be a but afraid to go Samsung at this stage.

I doubt it. Sammy isn't exactly dominating the Android scene right now, despite having a high end phone's on every carrier.

I don't know about that. Their Galaxy S line is doing impressively well. The S2 looks pretty sweet, and I'd have to agree that it will do very very well when it comes.

That said, the leaked document is full of (what appear to be) errors, and I would highly doubt most of it to be true regarding release dates ..

Galaxy S will kill Moto's sales if the roadmap is accurate.
I doubt it. Samsung is the red-headed stepchild of the Android world, even though they have nice handsets... and for good reason, IMO. Anytime an update breaks something as life or death as emergency calling, something is terribly wrong.

Love my Nexus S to death, but I never plan to buy a another Samsung phone unless one of two things happen:

- They make another Nexus phone.

- They step up on build quality, software quality, and timely updates with the Galaxy S2.

In competition with Moto, who rightly or wrongly is seen in the eyes of the mainstream consumer as more or less the leaders of the 'Droid' brand, the Galaxy S2 will have some marketing work to do, especially if the S2 isn't Droid branded. I think it will be much more likely that the Bionic will kill the S2's sales if the roadmap is accurate. Especially if Moto touts the coming Webtop feature (whether or not it's overpriced and limited until you root it and turn it into a working version of Ubuntu, and even then it's ridiculously laggy, and the only good explanation for it not being able to run smoothly on that hardware is piss-poor optimization and stupid software configuration, I mean come on, I can run an ARM version of Ubuntu 10.04 on my Nexus S at the same time as Android and interact graphically with it through a VNC client and it's more responsive than Webtop, can you tell I'm not pleased with the way Moto went about that?).

Hardware quality my but the fascinate feels much better in hand than the d2. As far as durability I've dropped this phone more than my d2 and its still in better condition shoot my phone fell out of my pocket into a puddle in the parking lot while running to my car in a storm and sat half submerged face down for a few minutes until I found it. Hit the lock button screen still worked. Only got a bug were it thought a USB plug was connected. Opened her up and let her dry for like an hour or two bug was gone and she's still running strong. I'm happy with my fascinate why I would rather run froyo on an open phone than gb on a locked down one. Plus I like the thin light weight profile of the phone it may not feel as great as an iphone 4 but it still feels good
edit and if you think Samsung is the holdup look at the mesmerize same phone as the fascinate but already has froyo .if you want to complain take that up with VZW who has to put all their crap in a Phone. Come-on how long do you think it takes Samsung to strip Google search and integrate Bing search and the rest of the VZW sweet of software

DX gets rooted GB at EOL! FTW! kidding, but serious, many people love the extended support Moto gets. Hell, the Droid 1 make Android stand up. That phone is still rocking with devs supporting it. I hate sliders.

Back on Topic, if the Bionic gets this blur, man is it going to be a huge hit. I can see all kinds of comsumers loving it. It has some hard to beat widgets. The GB screams fast. Web pages load instantly almost. GingerBlur has me dumping all the alternative launchers in the market ( I have ran em all, bored of em) The new shell 3D looks cool, but no FB and Twitter integration...pass. I am so happy I swapped my fascinate for a Droid X. Oh it feels good.

My comment wasn't meant to incite a Droid vs Galaxy or Samsung vs Moto debate. The Android universe is dominated by Moto and HTC. I don't see why the G2 is supposed to alter this.

Don't bother quoting specs either. Only people who visit websites like Android Central care about that type of thing.

I see the Droid Bionic being a hit also, the new blur that has been reviewed is supposed to be on this thing and its looking pretty convincing. Also, I have played around with the Atrix for a good 30 minutes and the dual core processors really help things and not to mention the qHD screen, it is the best looking screen i have seen other than the iPhone 4.

I have been looking at The Galaxy S2. I like it the only thing that scare me is They are the last to get updates or do not get updates at all... I do not want to purchase a phone and it is way behind in updates.

It used to be dominated by Moto and HTC, but no longer. It is now a very competitive landscape. HTC an moto may still be ahead, but Samsung is right there, and with good reason.

You correctly state too that it has nothing to do with specs either. I wish more people would understand this. You are so right. So many times specs are given as a reason for buying, as if the average consumer compares (or cares) about specs like we geeks :) do.

What is it, IMO, for the Samsungs is the screen. Honestly, have a non-techy friend or a non-techy girl walk in a cell store an look at phones. What do they notice most? "Oooh, the screen, look how nice THAT looks." The SAMOLED screens (and even more so now, the new SAMOLED+ screens) look fantastic to everyday users. They really do. Colors just burst off the screen, and that is pleasing to potential buyers. This, along with the trim form factor of the Galaxy S line has resulted in great sales for the Galaxy S line, and IMO will continue to for the GS2.

As for the new Blur, I haven't used it yet, but it looks pretty good. I am anxious to try it and see if it is more useful and more out of the way then previous iterations.

I loved the hardware on my Fascinate...but that sucker STILL does not have an official version of Froyo. That is completely unacceptable to me...and therefore Samsung will NOT be getting my money. GPS didn't work right (took too long to lock), too.

Nope...they lost a lot of potential buyers with their fail at updating the OS to froyo.

P.S. I'm actually in the Motorola forums because I called VZW to complain about the lack of OS update on Fascinate and they offered me a Droid X as a replacement. I love the Droid X and don't see why everyone hates motoblur. I've got LauncherPro over it which I love because I can make ANY phone/brand look the way I prefer it to be. I'm not at all worried about motoblur and hoping I like it so much I don't want to run a third party launcher over it.

I always consider specs making electronic device purchases, always!
