Anyone trust the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on the V20?

Believe what you want, GG4 isn't scratch proof. One piece of sand and you're done.
Right now the options for screen protectors are either ill fitting tempered glass that can trap said sand and dirt under it to still cause scratches, or a film style protector that can impair finger gliding.

Sure, nothing is scratch proof, but that doesn't automatically equate to your screen will be scratched without a protector. Depending on your usage, a screen protector could simply be over kill.

You just haven't looked closely enough. If you want to go with no screen protector go ahead. But don't fool people into thinking their screens won't scratch.
Agreeing that I haven't scratched a screen in years is fooling people? How so?

I also haven't broken or damaged a phone in over 5 years. Is that fooling people that phones don't break? No, it's not. It's simply stating my personal experience.

We are just stating our experience without a screen protector on our phones. The decision is still up to the original poster, simple as that. I made the decision 4 years ago and haven't looked back. Just like some people go without a case on their phones, I'm not there yet. I don't think it's bad advice just their choice. To each his own.

Ok ill back off. My apologies. People just need to know that these screens can scratch and relatively easily. Day 1 I got a scratch just by having my phone in my pocket. Never dropped and I always pamper my phones. My note edge I went with no protector cause of the curved screen and I just knew that fact of life is to have to live with minor scratches that are likely to occur.

I don't believe he said they won't scratch -- he more said his hasn't scratched. I haven't scratched a screen since my Note 3 and that was due to me being dumb and wiping it off after being near sand.

There's nothing wrong with stating your personal experience. Just know that nobody is trying to fool anyone in this thread.

A scratch is different to each person. For me, if I can't see it during my normal use of the phone, it's not relevant. I'm sure there are micro scratches on all my screens but since they don't effect anything and I can't see them, they don't matter to me. I'm not going to turn the screen off, tilt my phone at a 56 degree angle and shine a flashlight at it to see if it has micro scratches. That's not normal use to me so I see no point in going to great lengths to try and find flaws.

All I can say is over the last 5 years or so I've either sold or traded in every phone I've had and they have all been in near perfect condition. Some with cases but none with screen protectors. And I play golf 30-50 times/year on average and my phone is always in my front pocket. And yes, I've come home with some sand in my pockets but still no scratches on my phone. Lucky? Maybe.

No one is trying to fool anyone and how do you presume to know how closely we look at our phones?
The originally poster wants to know if we trust GG4 and we, including you are entitled to present our opinions without presuming opinions that differ are incorrect. No one is challenging you as to your assumption that screen protectors are important.

im using the tech 21 film screen. never has impaired my finger gliding at all. Im verizon, but thay style may be limited to only sello at T-Mobile online or in their stores

As one who took a hiatus from screen protectors on the nexus 6, I can fully say (at least to my eyes) a screen protector is a must.

I'm that guy who immediately put my phone in an otterbox, or right after peeling back the shipping protector I applied a new screen protector. Then after seeing so many going without one, I thought I would give that a try on the Nexus 6. After using it for 2 years, the screen has many tiny scratches I can see all the time.

My co-worker swears by not using screen protectors. I could see minor scratches on his G4, but they didn't bother him.

Point is, no matter what Gorilla glass comes up with, if any material is harder than the glass it will scratch it. Sand is a great example, fine tiny granules you may never see with your eyes might get caught between the screen and your finger or shirt.

My Incipio protectors are full coverage and don't impair my finger "gliding" on the screen, clarity, or touch sensitivity.

My S7e is actually without screen protection now so we'll see how long it goes without noticeable scratches.

I am on my 3rd smartphone in the last 5 years. I have never used any type of screen protection ever. If I put the phone in my pocket...It is always my front left pocket and I am always sure that NO keys or change is in the pocket to possibly scratch the screen...

I never trust glass. I left the screen protector on and have a case with a large lip around the display.

I've never used screen protection. I never had a scratch. Screen protection always reminded me of putting plastic on a couch. Lol

I still have the screen protector that it shipped with on the screen and it has been fantastic.

The Incipio screen protector really does a nice job. Full coverage, glass feel, no halo. I can barely tell its there. The only downside I can think of was that it cost ~$40 or close to it. Using a phone w/out a screen protector really takes away from my enjoyment of the device because I worry about it getting marred. Unfortunately, I can't find anything that will stay decent for my S7e so just have the screen naked. 😭😥😢
