Not that I don't like sense, but I find the giant phone button to be useless to me (I use other methods to quickly dial) and I'm starting not to like the carousel (unless I've totally missed how to remove homescreens I don't use).

I've made an attempt to give some of the other launchers like ADW, LauncherPro, and GO Launcher. But they seem extremely glitchy or terribly choppy (the app drawer was painful to navigate).

Are they more suited to unlocked custom ROMS or is it just the EVO 3D is far too new? Or is it my particular phone...

Go Launcher is my fav at the moment. Less glitchy than all the above atleast on mine. Super smooth using wave transition. Love the theme options that also changes app drawer icons based on theme. Currently using black glass. App drawer is smooth. I can combine any apps and it creates 1 folder for them. Or create a folder and add the apps you want it. for example games folder, etc.

For fb, twitter, bookmark widget I use colorize widget.

I was a fan of Launcher Pro when running my EVO 4G on the CyanogenMod 7 ROM.

I've been using Sense on the 3D since I got it, but I keep going back and forth on whether I want Launcher Pro or Sense.

I'm running launcher pro plus with no problems. Getting like 16 hours of battery life. I love this phone!

I have ADW Launcher EX. Don't know where the app drawer drags as I am flinging it around right now. This phone just rocks with ADW and with any live wallpaper.

I purchased Launcher Pro....but came across Go Launcher & I am stuck on them!!!! I also use Go SMS Pro, Go Dialer & Go Contacts....The whole Go Family pretty much!

Using EVO 3D....

Ive been messing about with ADW, Go launcher EX, Launcher Pro. I like ADW and it's themes, but I'm a little too lazy to customize right now since sense is so good. But I do agree, I hate the HTC phone/customization dock(redundant) which is what made me try out the launchers in the first place.
Go Launcher and ADW are two of the best though. I just like the minimalistic look.
With Homeswitcher you can have the best of both worlds and switch back at any time.

what I'm hearing is something is wonky with my setup, heh. I actually like a lot of the sense stuff otherwise. Go SMS in partiuclar is not happy when I send an MMS while connected to wifi (handcent and stock work, but I don't like handcent's themes).

I like Sense, but man, the dock/buttons and carousel need to GO.

Also, I miss the scrolling background.

And it's a shame you can't use HTC Sense widgets on other launchers, I really do like the clock one but if I have to, I can use the inferior Beautiful Widgets to get a decent one.

I like sense and want to keep using it but it seems to big down so easily and adw never has that problem

+1

They are horrible. Every time I want to go back to Sense, that absolutely fugly dockbar eats at my eyeballs like ravenous rotting zombies that haven't had a meal since the last millennium.

Go has a clock weather widget that is like sense but without the animations on the main screen.

I love Sense's cube effect much better than the other guys. I just wish I could cut back on the homescreens and NOT rotate around and disable the fast spin carousel.

I'm giving Go Launcher another shot, and it seems to be working great for me. App Drawer is extremely fast like Sense. ADW and Launcher Pro chugged a bit when showing it. And absolutely died when I enabled high quality, heh.

Anyone have any suggestions for replacements for the setting widgets like wifi/4g/auto rotate/ brightness? I think I found a decent enough agenda replacement even if it doesn't look as nice (android agenda widget, tho I can't figure out how to boost the text size). Not worried about clock and weather... I have my lockscreen as weather and I really like simi clock, heh.

I used to have ADW on my Evo 4G (also toyed with SPB Shell 3D). I'm perfectly fine with Sense 3.0, in fact, I love it. I could do without the spinning carousel, but that's not enough for me to switch. I do sorely miss the ability to put more icons on my homescreens though:( That said, I probably won't be able to last a year without getting bored and putting something else on it:)

ADW EX @ the moment and it is blazing fast! May have to try out Go launcher to see what the hype is about...

I'm going to give another vote for go launcher. I used launcher pro on the 4G and just didn't want to go back to it. Go seems more polished to me.

For widgets try https://market.android.com/details?id=bt.android.elixir&feature=search_result it's got some good all around features Also zdbox is a fav of mine though they don't currently have a 4g toggle. but I'm told to expect one soon

I couldn't agree more. Using Launcher Pro Plus (with 6 rows and 5 columns) since I hate the Sense dock/buttons, but wish I could use the HTC Sense clock widget on my homescreen...

This is a great point. The higher res on the EVO 3D needs another row on the launcher. I have used Launcher pro because of this. I setup a 4x5 homescreen and love it. The gestures on the dock and scrolling dock is great!
