I've always payed to replace my battery (Nexus 4) and wondered if most people make the same investment. I can't imagine keeping my 6p any less than 24-36 months (barring some unforeseen must have tech) and when degradation begins to become apparent I'm planning to get its battery replaced to.

Has anyone done this in the past, and if so where do you take/send it and how much do you typically spend? So many people use it as a reason to replace their phone which seems crazy to me.

As you can see in this video, opening the Nexus 4 and replacing the battery is relatively easy:

The 6P, on the other hand, is quite a bit more difficult:

Having said that, are you quite sure you aren't imagining the degradation of your battery after such a short time? I have owned Nexus 4, 5, 6 and now 6P and never felt the need to replace a battery in any of them.

my 4 didn't slow down THAT much but it definitely slowed down and I noticed a significant difference after replacing it. Keep in mind I almost kept mine for 3 years with constant use so it's not like I did it after 6 months.
