I've been searching the Web for a couple days trying to find out if it's worth it to upgrade to the s3 from the epic touch. I went to the Sprint store and they told me I am able to buy out my contract for around 125 and upgrade but I have to trade my epic in right then(don't know how true that part is). So with trading my phone in I would only be paying about 20-30 dollars extra over the upgrade price. If anybody upgraded from the epic touch 4g are you glad you did?

I would like to know the same. And also wondering if the radio in the S3 is as bad as it is in this phone. If so I might have to go with the HTC.

I upgraded from the epic touch 4G. I have found the S3 to be leaps and bounds better than the S2. For one I get about sixteen hours of battery life for my S3 vs maybe eight (if I'm lucky) I would get from my S2. The S3 is bigger and I love that, it have a much nicer screen. I have had zero problems with my S3, no radio issues, no restart issues nothing. So for me its been a definite improvement over the S2. Again this is my opinion. I hope this helps.

I?ve been using both phones for nearly a month: E4GT for my wife, and the SGIII for me. The E4GT price was $50 w/2-yr contract restart, and the SGIII was $200 (on my corporate phone plan), and these are our first true smartphones, replacing BB phones. If I had to pay out of pocket for my phone, I would have chosen the E4GT vs the SGIII. The SGIII is a better device, but IMO not worth the $150 difference, plus the E4GT is slated for an upgrade (??) to ICS. IIRC, the E4GT came on the market last September and the price has already dropped to $50. Perhaps the SGIII will have a similar short life on the ?new gizmo? market. I have more Android experience than my wife, so many of the new discoveries and uses I?m finding on the SGIII are soon applied to her E4GT. Both phones are really great, but as they say: to go first class only costs a whole lot more.

I had the Epic Touch before my S3 and am glad I upgraded! Battery life is awesome with the S3, I have to work this phone hard to run it out in a day, my Epic Touch would be dead mid afternoon with little use. I seldom see this mentioned but I can easily use the keyboard in portrait mode for the first time ever on a phone with the S3. The radios are slightly better than my Epic Touch, then again I didn't have any real trouble with my Epic Touch in that regard. Everything is better / upgraded over the Epic Touch in my opinion.

I upgraded. It's the ET4G with more "umph". The screen is bigger, it's thinner, it's a bit faster, the higher resolution is nice. The thing is the ET4G was such a great phone, you really aren't compelled to upgrade. Here's my advice; unless you're like me (SERIOUS gadget addiction), and you're happy with the phone you have, keep it. It's a nicer phone, but I don't feel it's leaps and bounds nicer than it's predecessor.

Well I'm definitely have a serious gadget addiction. But I have been trying to calm down this is why I'm trying to justify the upgrade lol.

So you are saying that the GS3 is the same as an iPhone 4S as far as upgrades go?:)

It's DEFINITELY worth it for me. Bigger screen, better battery life, better 3G in the same areas, plus voice and data at the same time with SVDO. I paid $499 for mine brand new and sealed on Ebay instead of buying out my contract though. I prefer to bite the cost now and not be stuck in case Sprint falters on their LTE rollout in the northeast.

Battery life for me was enough of a reason to upgrade. I always had anxiety about battery life on my Epic Touch because the darn thing was ALWAYS dead when I really needed it unless I plugged it in constantly or carried a spare battery. I am not against having an extended battery on my phones but I need to have a case with holster because of my work so that throws a wrench in that.

I love my S3 and since I got it at launch I was still able to sell my Epic Touch for enough money to completely pay for my S3 (I had an upgrade to use). So that really helped me justify the move. ;)

well, like the rest. very pleased with the upgrade, both my wife and i from the e4gt to the s3. heck, we gave up 4g (spotty where we are, great in the city) for lte somewhere someday, lol
we got a smoking deal and couldn't pass it up. All around a great upgrade.
No one has mentioned, the gps just works. instantaneous and accurate. use it every day( that i drive the car and not ride the morotcycle)
have no clue about the e4gt ics update and what that did for the phone, might be worth a peak over there.

hope this helps

Yes I did and miss it, I got better coverage with that phone.

I upgraded from my S2 Epic Touch to the S3 and gave my wife my S2. I loved the S3 so much over my S2 that I insisted my wife got one so I paid the $549 outright for hers and sold my S2 on Ebay for $249. Even she sees the benefits of the S3 over the S2.

I also upgraded from the Epic Touch Galaxy S2. Before that, I had an OG Epic. Simply put, the Galaxy s3 is the best smartphone I've owned, and I've owned an iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and an iPhone 4. I also jailbreak, root, and running custom ROMs on all of my phones. Prior to this, I thought the Galaxy S2 was the best all around phone, besting even the Galaxy Nexus is specs. I've been running Ice Cream Sandwich since January. The Galaxy S3 does everything the Epic touch does, just better, faster, bigger, and in HD. Hope this helps.

Well I went to go do my buyout and upgrade and the guy at the store told me the notation was removed from my account and I couldn't do it. So I got on the phone with customer service 3 times and they weren't willing to help at all. I just got fed a lot of crap. Only plus side is I found out my early termination fee is only 110. I think I'm leaving sprint. Thanks for all the advice on the phone.
