Just downloaded the app. Setting in a Holiday Inn in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Using their wifi I got 0.25mbps download and 0.46mbps upload, when I switched to my 3G connection (4 bars!) I got 0.70mbps download and 0.67mbps upload.

What numbers are you folks showing??

I just ran it on 3G and got 1.44Mbps down, 0.89Mbps up. My wifi gets around 10 down and 2 up

Man! I wonder what is wrong with my Inc then??!! I was showing 4 full bars of 3G and got nowhere near those numbers. I don't care about the wifi as it is the hotel's signal...probably crappy anyway plus being used by alot of others...

Where are you located and how close was the server?

Just ran again on 3G, 4 bars and got 1.05mbps download and 0.81mbps upload.... seems to fluctuate quite a bit.

The speeds will vary depending on traffic on the tower, weather conditions etc etc. You should be able to keep a 512+ connection pretty much everywhere. I use the FCC test, its an app, and I'm getting .75/.73 on 3G. I get better speeds with my 2.1 ROM so I guess I'll be taking 2.2 off the Inc for the time being blah.

Hmmm.... ran again on Speedtest and got 1.56 and 0.80.

Downloaded FCC and get a 1.15 download but saw as high as 1.89 pop up for a sec. But my biggest concern is that neither app is choosing a server near me. I am in Mt. Pleasant, SC (just outside of Charleston...) yet when I try to choose new server, it shows Atlanta, GA as being over 1200 miles away!

I also see the GPS working every time I try running a test.

Well you have to remember that is because it's using the Verizon end point of where you come out their network for data. So just pick a closer server whatever in the FCC app and retest!

3G: 1.355 down/.819 up

I don't have a current Wifi setup that I use at home.....

Well after putting a 2.1 ROM back on my phone and running the test I'm getting 1.18Mbps/.94Mbps with a 120ms ping to Atlanta. So looks better ;)

Maybe update your roaming/tower info. *228 option 2?
