Anyone worried about dust getting into the screen area?

OMG Thank you all so much for feeding my OCD with something else to be worried about! LOL..Tell you what as long as I have a warranty and insurance I will try not to let this consume me! Wonder if it can be blown out with compressed air? LOL

unfortunetly no you can't blow it out without taking the phone apart. Sprint says they can clean it but I doubt it. I have a strong feeling they will just give me a refurb. I figure I will just wait till something really bad happens before I exchange.

Meh dust gets under the screen dust gets under the screen. Seems to happen with all glass screen cell phones.

I really didnt have much of a problem with this at the start. First few months nothing but I would say start of august/september I noticed a spec of dust a little bigger than the size of the period at the end of this sentence. <---a bit bigger than that.

Anyways it was driving me nuts. First I thought it was just under the screen protector so I took it off to get a new one and wipe away the dust. My discovery was that it was under the screen. Long story short, best buy and sprint would do nothing unless I paid them, HTC said they would look at it when I sent it in and assess whether or not it falls under warranty replacement. It's pretty clear that it does and I would not have gone to them if it wasn't actually an extreme annoyance. Still waiting on them to call me back with the diagnosis. Keeping my fingers crossed!

This was covered with my old hero so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be with the evo. If they give me a hard time I will have to start complaining about my slight light leak near the capacitive buttons. I really want to wait for something bigger to happen but if I had to guess, I would say I have a better chance of getting a new one instead of a refurb. Only because the evo is still in high demand

Great! Just as I was going to call to check if they have the Evo at my local Sprint store. Now, can anyone tell me if I can do something to prevent this issue? I can get a case or something, just recommend anything that you think might protect the screen from getting dust under it. Thanks.

From my experience nothing really helps. I have a case and screen protector and still have the problem. I have a light case though. I rather not carry a brick. The evo is already a little chunky to begin with

Oh, well. I'll put some insurance on it and I'll be happy :) Despite the problems with the Evo, there are still a lot of up-sides to it.

If I had dust under there that I wanted to get out, I would lift up the screen and clean it. Only if it really bothered me though.

Is that user fixable or a soldering job? :)

Define user fixable :D. The front display is only held on by glue. You can use an "Ipod opening tool" to safely dislodge it. i assume the glue will have enough adhesion to reattach when you go to put it back together. Not for the faint of heart though.

Woo. I just checked messages and turns out that HTC called. They said my Evo should be back by Thursday, free of charge. The process was actually pretty painless. It was clear what the problem was, I sent it to them, got there in about 2 days and now they're going to send it back in 2 days. I am pretty thrilled I was really hoping I wouldn't be without it much longer. I'm stuck on my old touch pro and it truly is painful. WM6.1, tiny *** screen, slow as hell. UGH. Can't wait to get my Evo back!

Please keep us posted on what they did our how well they did it. I saw reports of people still having problems after htc fixed their dust issue. That was with the hero though

Well I did a hard reset a little before I sent it in because I was having some issues after the froyo update but when I sent it to them it was working like a dream. We'll see how it comes back. I will let you guys know.

welps the phone arrived today and its pretty much flawless. Looks great, no dust under screen, light leakage has been fixed. Everything went about as smoothly as could be hoped for. The only minor thing that irked me is that they did a hard reset for me. I am just kind of pissed by that because I had literally done one about a week before I sent the phone in and it turns out that now I have to set everything up YET AGAIN. Oh well. The major problem is fixed superbly and easily. So anyone else having this issue I would definitely call HTC up and ask them to warranty repair the phone.

Good to hear. Thanks for keeping us posted. I'm gonna try sprint first and see where that goes

I have dust under my screen. It began about a week after I got it. Now, what....4 months later....it's pretty d@mn bad. Horrible to be quite honest with you.

What to do?

Why dont you take it in to a Sprint store and see what they can do. I don't see why this wont be considered manufacturing defect. It's obvious the screen isn't glued well for dust to get in there. Maybe print out forums or threads which talks about this issue. I have some dust on the top corner but not noticeable enough unless you look at it outside at an angle. Eventually I will probably have to take it to store.
