Anyone worried about dust getting into the screen area?

I have a little bit of dust I just noticed today while I was using my phone outside in the sun. I called the Sprint store where I bought it and they said to bring it into the nearest repair store and they would take care of me.

Since my phone is rooted should I unroot it before I go in or would they probably not care since it's a hardware defect not software. Any help before I head in would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Just wanted to pipe in that I'm running into the same problem as everyone else now. I've had the EVO for maybe two weeks. I was using a silicone case, but there was a ton of dust collecting on the edges so I just removed it, been leaving the phone bare. It's only in my pocket when I'm going from one place to the other (the rest of the time it's either being used, sitting out charging, or sitting out playing music). It's in the upper-left corner, under the htc logo, like everyone else.

Pretty shoddy, if you ask me. I love the EVO, it's a great phone in a sexy form-factor, but dust under the screen after two weeks is amateur hour, HTC. Hopefully it doesn't get worse...

Also, in looking at the location just now, trying to find a likely entry-point for the dust, I really doubt it's the gap in the screen, not only because it's so small, but also because if that were the case, it'd be happening around the entire phone. Since it's happening in the top-left for everyone, it's likely something located near the top-left...and you know what's up there? A huge, giant, gaping stereo headset hole. My guess would be dust is getting in up there and making it's way to the static-attractive screen. Wonder if there's a good way to plug that up without being a huge pain in the ass.

i have a screen protector on my phone. i'm also a dump truck driver driving around in dust and dirt all day long.

have had my evo since day 1 and no dust problems what so ever. so what you all are talking about is news to me.

I too suffer from the dusty left upper side syndrome. I can only see it when the screen is off, and normal light.

I've had an evo since launch. I have the dust in the top left. I knew it was bound to happen eventually since it did on my hero. Meh. If it becomes excessive enough I'll just take it to the sprint repair. My phone is otherwise perfect so it's not worth trying to get a replacement that will do the same thing.

Yes, I already have one speck of dust inside of the screen, but I refuse to part with my definition of the godphone! ;)

Im in the dust bunny club...was changing my screen protector bcuz i noticed a little speck and of course the speck would not clean off! It's underneath my screen... :( at least i can b a part of the club now.

hexydes- you may be on to something...otterbox commuter series has a silicon closure over the headphone jack and charging port. i'm sure some other cases protect it as well. that's what i'm rockin so i guess i will let you know if i get anymore dust. can't see it being the screen edges bcuz i have had a case covering the screen edges since day 1.

Anyone else have any experience with taking the phone into Sprint for dust in the top-left corner?

I'm seeing some substantial dust underneath my screen and its starting to bug me. At the same time, I don't want to unroot and have to deal with new HBOOT's when trying to re-root.

Shed some light on this!

Dust Under Screen

This Sprint Store in Bowling Green KY, said there's no way they will replace or fix my phone after a heavy accumulation of dust under the screen. They actually challenged me to explain to them why this was not just a cosmetic issue. I called Sprint and they told me the same thing, that I couldn't get it replaced unless I called HTC and went through their repair service. I actually have specks of dust in and around the weather area on the home screen. I was also told by HTC I have to pay shipping, and will be without a phone for 6-14 days...I need to call sprint and see what else I can do, as I cant be without a phone for that long.
