AOD on, but not on AOD on but not on

Note 8 on Verizon on Pie. I have AOD turned on, but it never comes on. After I press the power button or the phone times out, it goes to the lock screen and stays there indefinitely at full brightness. Brightness is set to auto. Even with the brightness set manually to 10%, it goes to 100% on the lock screen. On Oreo, it went to the AOD and the clock would move around the screen, on Pie the clock sits in the same place and never moves.

You have to choices to make after turning AOD on. You can schedule it to be on during a certain time, you can choose what is displayed as well as what type of clock. Go to settings/lock screen/always on display, then scroll down.

I've done all that. Still only displays the lock screen at full brightness instead of the AOD.

Found it! On my AT&T phone, select Lock screen, then Always On display. Scroll down to Display Mode, and tap. Seems the default is Tap to show for 30 seconds. I changed mine to Show as scheduled.

I have mine set as Show Always.

Mine did that too... a few turn off, on, changed the AOD display and finally it stayed ON ..

Discovered something else odd relating to this. I turned off AOD. When I tap the power button, the screen goes black. But as soon as plug the phone into the charging cable or onto the wireless charger, the lock screen comes up, and never turns off.
