AOD or not to use AOD

I want to save battery and maintain battery health...

But I really like using AOD. But I know it's a battery drainer. So I keep debating back and fourth on whether to use it or not.

If you like it, use it. AOD doesn't drain enough battery to make anyone be on the fence about using it.

I get 6-7 hour with aod on 24/7. Battery health won be affected cause of aod in any way. Overnight i lose around 3% battery cause of aod

AOD is usually on from 10am - midnight . So I do have somewhat of break after midnight. About a 10 hr break from AOD. I honestly can't remember when I didn't have AOD. My last phone was a S7 Edge.

I used to have it on and was still getting 6-7 hrs before 20% but it's too much of a hassle for me. It's extra work to check notifications and stuff.

AOD drains an extra ~0.5%-1% per hour when it's activated and in use. I say "in use" because AOD can be activated but not "in use" when it's in eg. a pocket - in this case, I think AOD would cause zero extra drain during the periods it's in eg. a pocket.

So over a 10 hour day, you can expect to lose up to an extra 10%. It all depends on whether that extra 10% is crucial for you.

I think that depends. With AOD disabled, if you're checking your phone every minute (say by pressing the power button), then yes having AOD enabled would very likely save battery.

But if you're checking your phone every hour (with AOD disabled), then I would think having AOD enabled and "in use" would drain more battery.

Haha. I don't leave mine on 24/7. just during the day. Sometimes, it's in a pocket or purse. If I got a wallet phone case then it wouldn't be 'in use' all the time.

I used it before. But I just use the double tap.
When I did use AOD, battery life wasn't affected

I run my Moto Z Play Droid with Moto Display on all the time. I don't have any battery anxiety any more, so why not?

I've used AOD since one of my many Samsung phones came out with it but I use it now on my Pixel 2 XL. I love it even more now that I can delete notifications while on AOD screen! I don't have battery issues since I got my Pixel so I can't chime in on that.
