Apex Launcher and Nova Launcher

I had decided a few weeks ago to try apex launcher a try and really liked the additional features it offered over traditional TW. Shortly after installing apex I noticed my phone screen would randomly flash while looking at any application or it would refresh randomly. At first I would ignore it and then it would start bothering me. I decided to buy nova launcher since it was part of the .25 promotion (can't beat it) and I imported the apex settings into nova as well as tweaked some things with the nova features it came with. After installing and using Nova Prime, I've noticed that the random screen flashing and refreshing went away. I don't know if other people have had this issue but I thought I would post my findings after using both launchers. Nova also seems to be faster as well since you can increase animation speed to load apps faster.

I also noticed with apex that when I would press the lock power/lock key it would hesitate before finally turning off the screen and locking the phone. I haven't noticed this happening with nova launcher since installing and using it. I'm not biased towards one or the other. I just wanted some additional features and control over TW. Let me know your findings if you've had the same issues with the screen randomly flashing and refreshing.

I had similar issues, when I would try to open the app drawer it would just show the little loading circle for a really long time before my apps would show up. I also had the lag with the power button.

I downloaded Nova a couple days ago(free one) been testing it out debating whether I want to purchase the prime. I'm trying to figure out which I like best. I've tried go launcher ex, SPB shell 3d, apex and now Nova.

Hope it works out for you because I'd get tired of going through different launchers and customizing it to your liking. It would take up a lot of time

I'm using Nova and my screen is randomly flashing briefly... I had never noticed it until yesterday...It happens like every 3 hrs or something... I usually ignore it though but a fix would be nice

I don't think it's Nova though I think it's a possible hardware issue, cuz I'm not the only one it happens too

I work 12.5 hour days. Gives me something to do while I'm multi tasking, between work & play, but I do hope I find one soon so I can make it completely how I want it.

Strange. Seems like the opposite is happening to you as it was for me using apex. I had forgot to mention that I'm also stock besides using a different launcher. No root or anything like that.

One of the best things that the latest release of Nova does is allows Unread Count badge on the stock email application via TeslaUnread. So if you get Prime and download TeslaUnread as well, you can set it up on a Samsung to get the true Unread count on the stock email. All other launchers only do it for email using the native Gmail app and K-9. Nova Prime also does Unread Count for SMS, Missed Calls, Gmail, HTC Email, K-9, Google Voice, Google Reader and Google Talk. They just added the last 3, so I'm hoping they continue adding more.

As an alternative option, you can use MissedIt as the plug-in and set up a badge for any application that sends a notification to the device. When the notification is received, it puts a badge number on that app. This is cool as it increments the badge for each notification (so you can have a notification badge for Mail, Phone, SMS, Handcent, Words With Friends, Facebook, etc). Drawbacks: when you open the app, it dismisses the badge entirely. So for email, if you have 10 new emails come in, it shows a badge of 10, but once you open the email app (even if you only read 1 email), the badge no longer exists.

I really like have the true Unread on my email, but I have to do that at the cost of not having the notification badge on all the other apps I like to see it.

Yeah I just updated to the TeslaUnread. It's moving along and maybe a future update will include real time badging to keep count.
