Alright let me clarify what I meant by the title. My Redmi right now is experiencing this thing where in my APKs file in file manager it shows I have 3.2 mb, it was always have been zero before and I haven't downloaded anything and when I click on it, it said There's no apk file

I know 3.2 mb is quite small, but I'm just worried why I can't find this apk

I do however have a 3.2 mb apk in private and when I make it public it just stack to 6.4 mb APKs file Space.

Welcome to Android Central forums. I'm not familiar with Redmi devices so I had to do some research. Google says that typically APK files are stored in the Download folder but can be stored in the APK labeled folder. Asking about it showing a file size while appearing empty returned this answer.

If your Redmi phone's APK folder shows file size but no files, it could be due to hidden files, corrupted files, or an issue with the file manager app itself. Try enabling the display of hidden files in your file manager, clearing the cache of your file manager or the package installer, or restarting your phone.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential causes and solutions:
Possible Causes:

  • Hidden Files: Your file manager might be set to hide certain files, including APKs.
  • Corrupted Files: The APK files might be corrupted or incomplete, even if they are taking up space.
  • File Manager Issues: The file manager app itself could be having trouble displaying or accessing the files.
  • Permissions: You might not have the necessary permissions to access or view the files.
  • Storage Issues: Your phone's storage might be full or having other issues that prevent files from being displayed.
Troubleshooting Steps:
  1. Check for Hidden Files:
    • Open your phone's file manager app (e.g., Files by Google, or Xiaomi's File Manager).
    • Look for a settings option to "Show hidden files" or "Show hidden folders".
    • Enable this option to see if the APK files become visible.
  2. Clear Cache and Data:
    • Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > [File Manager app].
    • Tap "Storage" and then "Clear Cache" and "Clear Data".
    • Restart your phone.
  3. Clear Cache and Data of Package Installer:
    • Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > [Package Installer] or [APK Installer].
    • Tap "Storage" and then "Clear Cache" and "Clear Data".
    • Restart your phone.
  4. Restart Your Phone: A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
  5. Check Storage Space: Make sure you have enough free storage space on your phone.
  6. Check for Corrupted Files:
    • If you suspect corrupted files, try deleting them or reinstalling any apps that might be affected.
  7. Install APKs from a File Manager:
    • Download or transfer an APK file to your Android.
    • Open your Android's file manager app.
    • Navigate to the APK file.
    • Tap the APK file and then tap "INSTALL".
    • Tap "DONE" when prompted.
  8. Check for Permissions:
    • Ensure you have allowed installations from unknown sources in your phone's settings.
    • Navigate to your device's settings and grant permission for installations from unknown sources.
    • Go to Settings > Security > Unknown Sources and enable the option.

There is a lot of information here so let us know if this helps and if not we can offer advice from there.

I’ve seen this happen a few times on Xiaomi/Redmi phones — it’s usually just leftover cache or hidden installation files Android keeps temporarily for system apps or updates.

That 3.2 MB you’re seeing in the APKs section doesn’t always mean there’s an actual APK you can open or delete manually. It could be from:

  • A system or MIUI update that left behind some temp install data.
  • Play Store or GetApps keeping cached APK fragments.
  • Hidden files from a previously installed app that wasn’t fully cleaned up.

Here’s what you can try:

  1. Open “Files” → Clean Up and run the system cleaner once.
  2. Go to Settings → Storage → Apps → File Manager → Clear cache.
  3. Restart your phone — sometimes that alone resets the storage count.
  4. (Optional) If you’re still curious, use a file explorer like Files by Google → go to /Android/data or /MIUI and check if there’s a hidden “.apk” file sitting there.

It’s nothing to worry about — your phone’s just holding a small cached remnant, not an active or dangerous APK.
