[APP][LTE] Wifi tether for root users - WORKING!

After i use wifi tethering, my wifi is turn off, so i turn it on, then the phone reboots, anyone else with this issue?

I have been without my Century Link Internet for 3 days now. They say that they will have it back up in less than 48 hours. So, I downloaded WiFi tether and tried to get it to work. With my Thunderbolt I used tether almost everyday and averaged about 50GB a month (believe it or not). Well... I downloaded every version possible and could not get it to connect. I then decided to stop trying to get my iMac to connect and tried my Sony Vaio. On my Windows Computer it works like a charm and hit 18MBPS. It also works on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and my PS3 but for some reason will not work on my Mac. Any ideas?

A few of the newer roms now remove the VZW provisioning check in the built in ICS wifi tether app. I run GummyNex 0.3 and there is no need to download the wifi tether app anymore. Just a heads up for those that aren't aware yet.

I have it working on my phone as well. The first time I used it after I turned off the connection I got a random reboot but haven't had any problem since then.

Not to change subjects how is GummyNex 0.3? Buggy or anything?

Everything works. The built in kernel is sourced from another dev and I may change that out to the Apex one because it seems to me UV isn't working correctly unless it's hardcoded. There are people complaining about FB sync not working but many more report that it is working. I believe it's due to people not wiping before flashing.

For me it's been the most complete and bug free rom to date and I've tried rootzboat, zygot, and many others.

I turn off WiFi before loading the WiFi tether app. It prevents the phone from rebooting after I am done using the tether app, pre111. I could not get pre112 to work at all.

Works fine with Beta9 . only issue i have is my ps3 only connects with 3g with WPA2 encryption.. would love for my ps3 to connect 4g with WPA2 encryption.

I have a Motorola Droid 3.
I have chosen that profile, but I am still redirected to the Verizon "Pay to Tether" site...

Any suggestions?

I would try posting this in the Droid 3 forum. Someone over there (that has your phone) might have figured a way around this.

pre-113 runs like a freaking champ on my vanilla rooted nexus and A500. This will really help out on those occasions when I visit mom and she has no internet connection <gasp>

I have beta10 installed on my Rooted Galaxy Nexus. Holds a nice connection but upon shutting off tethering it causes my device to reboot. I tried it twice and it did the same thing both times. Lemme know what addl' imformation you need.

I have tried both the 3.1 BETA9 and Wifi Hotspot USB Tether by SVTP and there are two huge differences between the two that no one has mentioned. The 3.1 BETA9 will not charge your battery or allow phone calls while it is running. The battery will drain and the connection drops when a call is answered. With Wifi Hotspot USB Tether by SVTP the battery will charge and phone calls can be made/answered without dropping the connection. Wifi Hotspot USB Tether is clearly the winner until the code.google.com app allows charging when the app is in use.

That being true it is a $9.99 app that is just a toggle into the OS tethering app. There are free widget versions mentioned up a few posts in this thread that do the same thing.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

Spoke to soon, testing different version, will return with results....

Try this one, guys. Works for me and it's FREE. :D

But now that I have AOKP, I don't need it since it's already built-in. Just wanna share to those who don't have AOKP.
