[APP] Sprint Visual Voicemail Update for Rooted EVO's

Can someone help remind me how to do this with ADB? I used ADB to root my phone with 2.1, and never upgraded to Froyo because of the problems people were having with the camera's resolution and with the wireless tethering app (the primary reason I rooted). I don't know if either of those have been fixed, but I'm still running 2.1 and don't remember how to use ADB. So, can I install this update without upgrading to 2.2, and if so, what are the commands in ADB to do so?

Thanks

VVM Release dated 11/1/2010

This is the new Visual Voicemail update from Sprint. I have made this flashable for rooted users.

Instructions:
- Before flashing this you need to check /system/app/ and data/app for any files in there named (Sprint_VVM.com.coremobility.app.vnotes-1.apk, com.coremobility.app.vnotes-75.apk, com.coremobility.monkeys.fly.apk,(etc,etc.).
You will need R/W permission to delete it if it's in /system/app/
Delete the apk. using Astro, adb,Root Explorer or whatever.
- Download and flash the attached zip just as you would a ROM EXCEPT do not wipe!!! Just download and flash.

You think you will need to update to 2.2. Im not 100% sure. Every rom out now is based on 2.2 and should have the new voicemail in it.

From Breezy's original post...Can you explain how to flash the zip files. Amazingly enough I have accomplished all the previous steps. Deleted the vvm files using root explorer, downloaded the zip file you provided but I am unsure about how to complete the process. Right now in my notification screen I have 3 files that say "voicemail.zip download complete. Do I go into Root Explorer to "flash", which I have no idea what that means. Thank you in advance for any clarification. I only rooted my phone to have wireless tether available, but I really don't have a clue about much of this.

With root explorer open the zip then go inside the system folder, then app folder. Press on the Sprint voicemail.apk it should install that way.

Thank you

Thank you for your quick reply. In my continued search I found an article about "flashing". I downloaded Quick Boot and performed a backup and then choose "install zip file from sd card". From what I could tell your way was easier. It seems like it worked either way...that annoying notice has gone away and vvm seems to be updated and working fine. Thank you.

Just a quick question ,this worked on my evo,My wife has an Epic that i just flashed 2.2. Just got this vocie mail update, will this zip work on the epic???

If I use this method will I get the texts from 9016?

I installed Cyanogen 6.1, but before I did I backed up the Voicemail app with Titanium Backup. After I had Cyanogen running I restored it. Started getting the 9016 texts most people ask about. Used SPC to blacklist 9016 (Handscent didn't do it).

So now it's working correctly, but I have to have SPC to stop it. Will this method remove the 9016 texts?

Also what exactly does this do, can someone explain exactly what these are? Just removes old voicemail data/settings? Also what is monkeys.fly?

The 9016 tests is part of running aosp, most people that use cyan use google voice and the google voice voicemail. I don't think there is a way to have sprint visual voicemail and cyan.

monkeys.fly= lmao,i just put that so people would know it could have several different names and to see if people really read.;)

Thanks for this. It worked great on a Samsung Transform rooted with Shiftr182's ROM (which has no VM).

How do I address the 9016 texts I'm getting!!! Aaaaaghhhh. Hacking is painful sometimes.

Use google voice for your voicemail and then use a third party app for sms like handcent and blacklist that number or you could make a contact for it and give it a silent ringtone.lol

so I tried this on a cyanogenmod Nightly for 7 and it did not work, said amend scripting was deprecated by google .etc... more less says that your package is using old stuff and to update to the new edify scripting

Okay im having a little problem. i got the app on my phone but in voicemail settings it is saying please wait verifying voicemail to text account information.and its giving me a Eror T30. just keep saying this.
