App to search local apps? (type few letters of name and then select?)

I had been using an app to search my local apps, so pressed the app, typed in a few letters of its name, and all matching apps were displayed for me to select).

Apparently, after an app update, this functionality has been removed. Did apple sue them or something?

Can anyone suggest a search app to help me locate my apps?

I use GO Launcher (if that's relevant).

I suppose I could press the applications icon, then the search icon (bottom left), then type. As I type this whole thing, I guess I'm only complaining about having to press two things instead of one thing before I can type the app names. How lazy does this make me sound?

Thanks for any tips,
Caveman_Mike

You don't have to... In my Note 4 I fire Google up with the home button and type away. Only if you say OK, Google will it prompt for audio input.

Excellent! Thanks for the suggestion.

I added an icon for Google on my desktop. Sure enough, if I type a few letters, the middle section shows apps on my phone.

It is a bit cluttery but I guess if I don't want to press two icons, that is one solution.

Any other apps which offer dedicated phone-app-only searching?

Thx
Mike

Check to see if your phone supports a button shortcut, like long-pressing the home button for some or the menu button for legacy phones. That way you don't even have to go into your homescreen, you can initiate the search from anywhere. And if you only plan on using the Google app for that, you can tell it what it should and should not search for, so you can limit it to phone apps.

actually I use home2shortcut so a double-press of the home button on my note3 takes me right to google now voice detection so I don't have to hit the mic. button (I love that feature!!)

I'm happy to press the google icon and start typing to search apps.

btw, I did go into the settings of the google app and told it not to include contacts so it's a bit less cluttery

Thanks again, I'm delighted with this solution!
