Apple: Get A Life!!!

Could you cite specific examples?

I'm not that invested in making my point. If you've read the articles on this site or listen to the podcast, either you see it or you don't. If you don't then that's good. I do, which is why I go elsewhere.

What's the restocking fee if you do want to return it?

At Best Buy there isn't one. Not sure about AT&T Corporate stores.

So, Kevin, do this for me. Open Facebook, write a lengthy reply to a post, press home, load up the Internet Browser, look in your favorites, copy/paste the url as if you're going to post in the comment on FB..

click the recent apps button, select Facebook. It didn't save ANY of your post, it reloads the app as if you just opened it. With most Android phones, cause happens before effect. With this device, effect MUST happen before cause otherwise you'll do things twice.

So in essence, HTC wants you to copy the url before you write the post.. yay!

I guess people should realize that the recent apps button is just that, your recently opened(and now closed) apps.

(I know this is offtopic, I apologize)

But that isn't a bug. Or an issue. Or something that needs to be fixed. It's exactly how HTC intended it to work. So yes, it sucks. Not disagreeing, but if it's that big of an issue return the phone and get something that doesn't behave that way. For the way I use my phone it hasn't been much of a detriment, just an occasional headache. Definitely hasn't stopped me from enjoying the rest of the device.

They aren't holding them because of apple its because the phone's don't have the chip that allows the government to track your phone. So once they fix this they will ship them

I actually knew the answer to this :p It's $35, and the hassle of taking it back and dealing with a Sales assoicate who's been trained to challenge your request. If you do choose to exchange it, you have 1 final opportunity, and you have 14-days (30 for some Moto's) to make it happen.

Bug no, because it's obviously something that isn't being acknowledged as one, but it is an issue because consumers don't like it, and former Android users had no reason to believe it wouldn't work the same as every other HTC Android phone they've owned.

Before: I could work on an email and if I left the app I could come back to it exactly where I left off, without jumping through a bunch of steps to retrieve it from drafts folder. I didn't have to worry about having to re-navigate back to Android Central after I left and came back to Chrome.

After: I do.

I've always owned Audi's and every one of them has had air conditioning. It works all the time, regardless of the speed I'm driving. If I were to buy a new one today, I wouldn't think to ask if they killed the AC at 60 MPH to conserve gas. That deviates from every other car I've ever owned. Fine, I take it back, but now I'm penalized with a fee because I'm at fault for not knowing about this ahead of time & don't like it? That's an extreme analogy, but I just don't agree that consumers with Android experience are at fault for not knowing this ahead of time.

That said, I'm an informed consumer at this point, and yes I would be responsible if I bought it knowing how it works and got all worked up about it.

It is what it is, it's working as intended, and it's fine for many. But I think those that want to voice their frustration this time around should be given a free pass.

I'm just glad we're not talking about me anymore. Although that could change any second :p

I have a feeling we're going to have some massive flame wars on SGIII vs One X on this exact issue, ESPECIALLY if the SGIII runs the same SoC.

e.g., My SGIII multitasks fine!

This will turn full circle and bite HTC in the rear if they just keep saying it's working as intended. Someone high up needs to acknowledge "hey this does suck, let's adjust it to be more lax."

Sadly, these companies probably don't eat their own dogfood.

Samsung will be better if the bootloader comes unlocked. I don't know why HTC locked it, hopefully they'll unlock it soon. The 1x has so much potential.

HTC didn't lock it. Carrier did.

I installed the bloat free Rom from xda and now this pretty much never happens. Come on you guys, this is an easy fix.

I agree with Apple clearly resorting to litigation to root out the competition, but I don't think they will make any sort of dent on the Android market. It is us who will have to bear some damage from these instances of patent dispute, but we will get over that. The problem here would be Apple's future in that they aren't going to be able to keep up with the market at the rate it is going if they keep doing what they are doing, which is a single phone and a tablet in a year. Their ecosystem might carry them for quite awhile, but for how long?

So, Cory, I agree fully with what you've said, but Apple's still going to do what they are going to do, but they are not going to win in the long run with such tactics.

I am cynical that this will do much damage to either Apple's profit share and market share, both of which are still growing according to the latest Gartner numbers I saw today. Face it, those of us who educate ourselves on these issues are in the minority. Sad but true.

I am not a fanboy for any MegaCorp, and there are still cases where I may buy Apple products like the MacBook Pro for example. However, I'm not going to lie, tactics like this leae a bad taste in my mouth. It's Microsoftian in nature. I went to Apple products in part to escape that beast, and I don't appreciate to see not only it happening with Apple but people defending it. Just look at iMore, the fanboys over there think Apple is the source of everything good when we know good and well that's not true.

I wonder if AT&T and Sprint are concerned or should be concerned over this recent series of events...But then they are dealing with Apple here, the one manufacturer they don't want to piss off, right?

Keep in mind Jobs is gone, and the other Apple execs are growing tired of this endless patent foolishness. Perhaps in the near future the hatchet will be buried. But know this! Apple fanboys can't deny the power of Google services, and it's PURE mobile OS platform which changing for the better. Neither can Fandroids deny the power of iOS and the iPhone.

The issue with Apple is restriction, other wise way more people would be on board.

The issue with Android, is fragmented and the software is not quite as polished. Other wise iOS users would clearly leave for Android.

Both are great platforms and are tailored for different audiences.

Some well made comments here. I have to say I agree you have hit on some great points.

They can't be concerned. If they break their contract they'll owe apple billions due immediately.

Jobs himself said that he didn't want Apple sitting around thinking about what he would do after he was gone. If you want to use that logic, it makes sense for Apple to drop the patent war unless it's a situation where copying is completely blatant. Samsung is the only Android partner who is blatantly copying. HTC and Motorola aren't.

To an extent. HTC did a lot of software copying, but the latest version of sense does away with all of it.
