And then you start to read all the feedback from those that bought the new optional 45 watt brick and find out it doesn't really decrease charging times much anyway. Maybe by a few minutes if charging from a dead battery, but not worth the extra cost.
It's like buying an appliance say a refrigerator/TV and they tell well in order to use it the cord comes now separately for an additional 50.00I feel that charging bricks should be included with phones. I'll compare it with power tools. If I buy multiple tools from say Skil, each tool comes with its own charger. I don't have to use the same charger for each tool of the same brand or buy additional chargers if I get new tools.
That's a slap in the faceWhat kills me is how they still include the charging cable. Like... Come on, really? Are you just messing with us here? Giving us the cable and no charging brick lol

Secondly, to deconstruct my own flippant analogy, a spoon is durable technology, a charger is not. Shortly after buying my S21 ultra, the charger I received with my s10e died. So what did that mean? I had to buy a new charger. Which had to be shipped to me separately in its own packaging, in its own shipping box, in its own van. Sorry environment.

You need a cable and brick C'mon at least the basic lol
Just making a comparison the way things are going , it's stupid! For every one of you that may need the charger included, there's hundreds, if not thousands of buyers that don't need it. While that excess packaging and such may increase your specific environmental impact, the environmental impact overall goes down.
I own several Ryobi power tools. With them, one battery works across the board. I bought a starter kit work a couple tools, 2 batteries, and charger. Later on, I only have to buy the tools, which they also sell without batteries and chargers. I can also buy batteries and chargers separate from the tools. I think that's the better way to go, both for them and phone manufacturers.
The difference here is you aren't moving your refrigerator and tv from room to room. The cords for them are also good for the life of the appliance in most cases, making it a 1 to 1 use. Not the case with phones, where cables break and people have chargers all over the place.

Citation please.
What about the trucks that have to deliver the chargers that customers order separately? If chargers were included only one shipment not two.But how much savings in emissions exactly? Apple says this move “and helping partners reduce carbon footprint will result in eliminating the carbon equivalent of over 50,000 cars from our roads per year.”

The thing is, in 2016, there were an estimated 115 million cars on the road...PER DAY. so really, is 50,000 in a year really anything worth mentioning? No.
This thread and all the comments from others mentioning and displaying all the excess chargers they have that they don't even use.Citation please.
Being a trucker, I can say that the amount of extra emissions generated by adding a charger is so negligible as to be almost non-existent. Trucks are designed to carry offer 40,000 lbs of product, 80,000 lbs total. You wouldn't notice a difference in performance or fuel mileage with or without chargers being included. The bigger environmental impact is in the manufacturer of what will become just another brick of e-waste. I.e. Production of plastics, pcb's, metals, chips, etc, including some toxic chemicals used in their production. What about the trucks that have to deliver the chargers that customers order separately? you can use your fingers to eat the yogurt since you should always have one available. Might be a bit messy![]()
I think Laura was referring to more Trucks to deliver those packages therefore more Trucks to pollute the roads. This thread and all the comments from others mentioning and displaying all the excess chargers they have that they don't even use.
