Apps getting the 'stopped working unexpectedly' error when moved to the SD Card.

Whenever certain apps (Mostly games) are moved to the SD Card, they then give the stopped working unexpectedly error until I move them back to the phone. Is there a way to rectify this? My phone has very limited internal memory.

If the app developers don't support running apps from the SDcard they won't work. The reference points for where the data is stored are coded into the app as being internal. There may be a hack to virtualize the directory on the SD card, but I have no experience with it.

So it's a problem with the apps, themselves? This has happened with apps that I've moved to the sd card from the application settings. It was my understanding that an app developer has to allow the option to be able to move them from there. They're not isolated incidents, either, they seem to happen to the overwhelming majority of game related apps.

Android is trying to move away from external SD for apps. Google doesn't feel it's a good solution. The app itself has to support being moved to the SD card, and most devs aren't doing that these days. There was a workaround for the S4, you'll have to see if there is one for your device. I'm not aware of your device nor a solution for you, but I'm sure you can find an answer with a quick search.

My device is an LG Optimus M. It's pretty low spec compared to other Android devices but it gets the job done in terms of app selection. The biggest problem is it has very low internal memory, only 200MB. I managed to get it up to Android 2.3.3 and it's rooted, if that helps.

Link2SD didn't solve the problem. It can move things to the SD card but, like when I move them in the application settings, they stop working unexpectedly when I try to run them until I move them back to the internal memory.

Note: I tried completely wiping out my sd card and resetting the phone completely, the problem STILL persists.

I have the same issue as MetroidJunkie, Any apps that I move to the SD card seem to stop working. It looks like if the operating system is not acknowledging that the app has been installed correctly. When I go to settings > applications, the apps are shaded in gray and instead of seeing the actual name of the app your getting the file name. I know this is NOT an app issue because this is happening to apps I already had installed previously before this problem began. Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this problem? I would appreciate it greatly.

I had a similar issue with my Galaxy S2 only Id backed up the apps to SD, facotry reset my phone, restored the apps then the messages saying " stopped working unexpectedly" showed and it was something like 8 at the same time and always the same apps. Not sure how I solved it but its now stopped.
