Long story short - I had a sandisk SD card. Moved picture folders from device to SD card and LOST a ton of them. Read online I needed an official Samsung SD card so I bought one.
Put it in yesterday and transferred pics over - so far so good.
Moved apps over to SD card using recommendations I read online, by going into device manager and now the apps are greyed out. They eventually work when you click them but their main icon isn't showing. Widgets I once had on home screens are also gone for those apps moved to SD card.
Using a Samsung Galaxy S5
Version 4.4.2

Dont know why they greyed out, but did u move them back to internal, memory before changing sdcards?

Widgets will never work when app is on sdcard. System doesnt let it as it could break home screen or even whole launchers if card would be removed without turning device off (or at least closing launcher)

Sent using C6833 - AICP/GreatDevs

try out "Apps Organizer", which lets you categorize your apps and create widget folders for the categories. These widget folders can be placed on home screens and are refreshed when the widget is loaded and also when you click on them.

I had them on my device memory from the beginning. It wasn't until I put in this new Samsung SD card and transferred them over to the SD using the application manager that they became greyed out. Again, they still work when clicked, it's that they appear grey is the confusion..

Hmmm, ok. I will try this.

Delete the greyed out shortcut and then drag a new one out from your app drawer. Happened to me too.

Hi I'm having the same issue. Previously I could do the above but just restarted my phone and the apps are an even lighter shade of grey and when I click them it says application not installed! Any ideas?

Hi,

I have same problem! Deleting shortcuts means deleting just from the home screen or from some where else? I tried from home screen, didn't work.

Any help, really appreciated.

Thank you

If you want to uninstall an app, you could do that through the app drawer. Deleting from the Homescreen only removes it from that page. You can also manage and uninstall your apps in settings> applications> applications manager

Android Central App | S5 G900A kitkat root

I found that if I unmount and then remount the SD card the widgets return. Faster than deleting and dragging.
An issue I also have is every so often a widget disappears on boot - even on my phone. Any ideas?
