April factory images (Update: OTA is live!)

I get it both ways and I think another post said something about which tower your on make a difference. So maybe that's the reason.

Mine goes back and forth....sometimes says VZW, sometimes says Verizon. No idea what causes the switch.

It is what the tower tells your phone to display. Most say Verizon Wireless. Some say VZW.

Perhaps mine isn't properly provisioned - I never see either of those.

No it just depends on the tower.

I wonder if it's a result of whether those patches fix something the phone is actually vulnerable to. The comment about MediaTek processors made me think this. If the processor or firmware/software related to that processor or phone is not at risk, then there theoretically would not be anything to patch, correct?

I find that news about OEMs not installing security patches pretty troubling. It would be one thing to simply miss an update, but to be purposely misled about the state of your device is very unacceptable.

perhaps the op's way of saying we made the right choice with Google. With the Google line really rock solid I can't imagine going anywhere else for my Android experience.

I just wish mine would keep losing connection to wifi randomly. I can't play ONE match on clash royale without it booting me and making me login again. soooo annoying.

That was the final straw that pushed me away from the pixel that and Bluetooth

I haven't had any bluetooth drops or WiFi drops. Checking my phone now I have been on WiFi / my VPN for 3 hrs and 4min atm.

I'll chime in with my experience too. I've had a Pixel 2 XL since it was introduced. I work from home. I connect to my NetGear X6 R8000 Nighthawk home router literally 24/7. I use a Sony WH1000XM2 wireless Bluetooth headset for hours at a time. My WiFi and Bluetooth connections are solidly reliable.

I use a TP-Link Archer 2600 wireless router. But I do get some wifi issues. Mainly Tapatalk and the original Android Central app will not load posts after a while and I have to flip to cellular data for a while. But that is all.

I wear Bose QC35s and they connect fully to my Pixel 2 XL without issues
